Deep down under the water, where the sun barely reaches and darkness surrounds. Down by the floor of sand and mud, through the thick lake weed, there it lies.
A village of stone buildings, cemented by mud and plants. In the middle is one much bigger than the rest. Inside it holds the clues to an entire society. Etched onto stones are carvings depicting hunters and warriors and most of their history. Others hold lines of rules and instructions. To ensure e their world would never crumble.
Back in one of the smaller buildings, a girl slept peacefully on her bed of stone. Her blood pulsed slowly through the blue veins that ran along her arms and legs, stretching up her neck before becoming unnoticeable deeper under the skin of her pale face. Her large oval eyes were closed, her eyelids covering the intense green irises. Long blond hair encircled her head, rising and falling with the gentle movement of the water. She stirred slightly, flexing her webbed fingers and rolled to one side before settling again.
She might have looked peaceful, but even in her dreams her mind was racing. She was like any other child of her kind, focussed and determined. The most important thing on her mind; following the rules of her society, because in her mind... that was how everything was meant to be.
As far as she knew, she was living in a perfectly organised world.
