Stench. That's all i'm surrounded by day by day, stench. Before I was murdered I was given a deal of 30 days to fix all of the wrong things i've done in my life. I don't believe that I deserved life in the first place, I was a horrible person. I never cared about myself or others, I believed we're all alone in this world. The wolf maul and kill the sheep and I was determined to be a wolf. But now day by day as I stare at my dead body laying on the motel room carpet stinking up the room I can't help but rethink my entire life.
I never had any friends not that I actually wanted any. My family? They were ok but I never appreciated anything they did for me and eventually they gave up on me just like everyone else had. So I moved out a year ago as soon as I turned 17. The person who took my life knew all about me and knew that if I went missing or was killed there would be nobody to report it. So now as I stare at my Maggot and fly filled corpse that's slowly decomposing right on the carpet I realize I was the most toxic and selfish person in my entire town. I constantly put others down to lift myself up but the worst part is.....I wouldn't take any of it back. I liked being a terrible unapproachable person, I never pretended to be this kind and giving person because that just wasn't me. I liked being a jerk and all the other names people would call me.
I'm not actually sure what or where I am. I don't think i'm a ghost but I know i'm not alive anymore. I've been just staring at my body for about a week now wondering how nobody has found it. The motel I was killed in is really crappy and run-down but I was sure the staff would have at least wondered what the awful smell was. I can't touch anything but I can still smell and see everything around me.
"What is that smell?!", I hear somebody yell and the jiggling of the doorknob follows soon after. And all I can think is finally somebody will see my body and do something with it because I can't stand the smell any longer. When the lady walks in I recognize her as the woman who works at the check in desk who was there to check me in on my first day at the motel. As soon as she sees my body laying on the blood stained carpet she screams at the top of her lungs and the two people behind her push past to see what's going on.
The two people behind her both gasp at what they see and I can't help but roll my eyes at how dramatic they're being. The girl behind her looks about my age or rather how old I was when I died and the man looks to be in his 30's or 40's and he and the girl look alike so I assume that's his daughter. They all stand there shocked for about a minute and the guy is the first to snap out of it.
"We have to call the police or an ambulance or something, the body has obviously been here for a while so there's really nothing we can do for him", he says in a firm voice but it's obvious he's still shaken up about what he sees. His daughter and the lady both nod silently and all three of them leave the room quietly.
I wait for about five minutes and the lady and the girl come back into the room and the lady has a phone against her ear.
"We found a body in room 159 at the Stanford Motel on Royale drive, the body is pretty decomposed and almost unidentifiable at this point but we can tell it's a male." The check in lady's voice sounded really shaky and she stuttered a lot through her sentence. And while she does this the girl shifts uncomfortably in the corner of the room while covering her nose and her mouth with her hand.
"Yes we can do that", she said after taking a pause to let the 911 operator speak.
"Emerson can you go into his pocket and check to see if he has any identification on him?"
'Emerson' hesitates but finally just nods her head and slowly walks over to my boy dy and searches through my pockets and when she doesn't find anything she looks toward the lady and shakes her head.
"He doesn't have anything with him at all, no wallet, no phone, nothing" Emerson says with a confused look on her face.
"How is that even possible?!' The check in lady whisper yells as she has her phone pressed against her chest so the operator can't hear her.
God I just wish they could see or hear me because without me explaining it there's no way anyone is ever going to be able to figure out what happened to me. Even I'm not 100 percent sure how it all went down.
"He doesn't have any identification on him Sir, what should we do now?"
The woman nods her head along to what the operator is saying and hangs up the phone soon after.
"They're sending an Ambulance our way to take care of the body and police to try to figure out who this poor boy was Emerson", the lady says with a sad expression on her face as she glances down at my body.
I really need to figure out what her name is
