Coffee Disaster

Late! I'm late! I'm so very late!

My coffee sloshes around inside the paper cup, bouncing with each step I take. High heels click on the ground, and my hair that's up in a high ponytail slings wildly back and forth.

Of course I would silence my alarm today. Perhaps the one day I absolutely cannot be late. I'm so going to get fired!

I was approaching my new job site, an entertainment company. Bighit Entertainment to be precise. They had recently published an advertisement for a new secretarial position, and with me being a broke college alumni, I jumped at the opportunity for some extra cash.

Little did I know that they would hire me on the spot the very day of the interview. Turns out that there weren't that many people leaping at the job. Some had mentioned that the CEO was very demanding and particular about his job, so much that it made working with him near impossible.

I decided that the rumors wouldn't stop me, however, so of course I took the job.

My purse hanging on my shoulder is feeling heavier and heavier, but as the large windowed office building gets closer, the weight was slowly diminishing.

The doors of the office seem like a safe haven, and a smile breaks out onto my face as begin to climb the steps to the entrance.

I'm nearing the top step when I feel a body hit against my own, sending my coffee cup tumbling out of my hand and dumping the contents out onto the person next to me.

I do my best not to lose my balance in my heels, and once I steady myself, a wave of relief washes over me. The relief is short lived, however, because now when I look up I'm met with the burning dark eyes of a man who now has a fresh coffee stain on his suit.

He's glaring at me with the intensity of a thousand suns, and I suddenly wish that the ground would swallow me whole. My hand goes over my mouth with an audible gasp, and I silently curse the universe for giving me the worst luck possible.

"I'm so sorry." I frantically apologize, my free hand still clutching the empty cup. I quickly say a silent prayer in my mind, thanking the divine being watching over me who convinced me to get an iced coffee instead of my usual extra hot.

At least he's just mad and not mad with a third-degree burn.

"I'm truly sorry, but I'm late." I blurt out the words, knowing it's an awful thing to do to someone, but maybe if I hurry and leave he'll let me off the hook.

My feet manage to carry me a couple of steps away before I feel a firm grip on my wrist. I spin around to be pulled into the man, our faces now mere inches apart.

Oh my...

A set of black eyes sends an icy glare down at me, making a cold sweat break out on the back of my neck. I watch as a strand of his dark hair falls down, grazing his eyebrows that are furrowed in irritation. I can hear my heartbeat in my ears, and there's no doubt my face is flushed with embarrassment at the close proximity.

Is he a movie star? Or an idol? He's so gorgeous.

When my eyes accidentally trail down to his plump lips and I see his jaw lock with rage, a series of both butterflies and tingles shiver their way up my spine. My breath hitches in my throat, and its suddenly hard to breathe. However, I'm not sure if its because of my previous running or the fact that I'm in such close proximity with this handsome stranger.

"See here," His deep voice rolls off his tongue as his breath fans my face. "Compensate me for what you ruined."

"What?" It finally dawns on me that I'm inches away from his face, and I pull away with shock. "Compensate? Compensate for what?"
