"Don't go.." Jennie mumbled.
"You are late" Lisa laughed but Jennie didn't find it funny.
"Why do you even have to leave in the first place?" Jennie huffed out. "I don't understand"
"I already told you Nini, I don't want to study here anymore." Lisa replied as she zipped her bag up. Jennie let out a sigh.
"You weren't planning on telling me, were you?" Jennie asked as she sat on Lisa's bed.
"Mmm not really, I wasn't" Lisa replied as she checked if she had packed everything she needed.
"Why?"
"Stop asking so many questions Jennie" Lisa told her with a smile.
"Thanks to Sana that I came to know. Or else I'm pretty sure you would have left without letting me know. Which, by the way, was very unacceptable Lisa" Jennie wanted to be mad at Lisa but she just couldn't bring herself to be mad at her best friend knowing that she was leaving for an uncertain amount of time.
"How did Sana tell you that anyways?"
"I bumped into her and her girlfriend Tzuyu at the cafeteria and they were surprised to see me there. Sana went all 'I thought you would've been with Lisa' and Tzuyu elbowed her. That's when I came to know that something was up and so I questioned them and therefore came to know about your motives" Jennie explained.
"So you bunked college and came over?"
"Yes" Jennie nodded before speaking again. "I'm mad at you"
Lisa looked at Jennie for the first time since she had arrived at her room. "No, you aren't"
"Yes, I am" Jennie pouted.
"So, what do you plan on doing about that? Punish me?" Lisa joked.
"Yes. And your punishment is not leaving Seoul"
"That's not possible anymore Jen. I have to go" Lisa replied with a sad smile. Jennie's expression immediately changed.
"Don't go Lisa. I need you here with me. You can't leave me alone like this" Jennie said seriously.
Lisa stared at her best friend for a while before slowly leaning down and kissing Jennie's forehead. "You are not alone Jennie. You have your friends. You have Jong-in"
"I'm breaking up with Kai" Jennie blurted out.
"What?!" Lisa asked in utter shock.
"Calm down. I decided that last evening" Jennie informed her. Lisa was dumbfounded.
"Jennie you aren't supposed to hide things from me" As soon as Lisa said those words, she realised how hypocritic her statement was. She was, afterall, the one who had been hiding stuff from Jennie.
"How was I supposed to tell you? Your phone has been unreachable since yesterday and you didn't come to college today" Jennie told her.
"Okay, your point is valid" Lisa spoke. "Why are you breaking up with him though? You both seemed to be doing pretty fine"
"I realised I might have feelings for someone else.." Jennie nervously spoke.
Lisa sighed. "Who?"
Jennie took a deep breath. "Lisa I-"
She was cut off when Bambam, Lisa's other close friend, walked into the room.
"Lis, you're gonna miss your flight! Hurry up, will you?" He told his friend.
"I'm so sorry Jennie but I really need to go now" Lisa walked towards the door and helped Bambam, who was accompanying her to the airport, in taking the luggage out.
Jennie stood up and hugged Lisa tightly. "You are going to call me everyday and come to visit soon too right?"
"Of course Jen" Lisa hugged her tighter. They stood like that for a while until Lisa had to leave.
Jennie walked Lisa to the cab that was waiting for her.
"Take care of yourself Nini and don't miss me too much" Lisa joked.
"Come back soon please" Jennie mumbled.
"I'll see you soon Jen. Don't worry" Lisa slowly pulled her hand away from Jennie's hold and opened the door of the cab.
"I'll miss you" Jennie told her best friend.
"I'll miss you too. A lot more than you can imagine" Lisa said quietly before taking her seat and shutting the door.
"Let's go" Bambam spoke from the front seat.
Jennie sighed and waved one last time before the cab pulled away.
As Jennie turned away to walk, her eyes fell on a notebook lying on the ground. She kneeled down and picked it up.
She realised that it was not just a notebook. It was a diary.
It was Lisa's diary.
Lisa probably dropped it accidentally. Such a careless girl. I'll call her up and tell her that it's with me. She can take it when she visits, Jennie thought.
As Jennie stood up and patted the dust off the diary, she happened to land her gaze on the last entry of the diary. As much as she wanted to respect her best friend's privacy, her curiosity got the best of her. But the moment she started reading the entry, she found herself speechless.
"I am done pretending. I am done hurting. I am done lying. And I am so done waiting for the impossible to happen. I can't watch this anymore. It tears me apart every single day. I'm going away and I'm not telling Jennie. If she comes to know somehow, I'll lie. I'll lie and tell her that I'll come back. But I won't, I won't ever come back. I am breaking off all my ties with South Korea and with her.
It happened dear diary. I've lost my battle. I'm giving up"
Jennie was shocked. She quickly reached for her phone and dialled Lisa's number.
Her phone was switched off.
Jennie had questions. A lot of them.
She didn't have Lisa to answer them.
All she had was the diary.
