The doorbell rang, so I stood up and opened the door.
"Hey girl!" Mia said.
"Hey..."
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" She asked worried.
"No..."
She raised her eyebrow.
Oh, my God! I can't lie to her.
"It's Max?"
When she said his name, I froze. Who's Max?
Well, he's just my ex-boyfriend, who abused me, hit me and raped me.
I went through a complicated phase of my life.
One day, when I got back from school, he was here waiting for me. He hit me very hard and made me several cuts, even today I have scars.
If Mia hadn't gotten here in time, he would have killed me. She called the police and Max was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison, but I'm always afraid that he can get out and come after me.
I stayed several weeks in the hospital and had to go to psych sessions to get through the trauma. I still have nightmares about what happened that day.
I'm also afraid to get close to Jack for not knowing what kind of guy he is.
And that's why Mia wants to meet him, she wants to make sure that he won't hurt me, but I don't know if he likes me that way either...
