My wheezing breath filled the cold night air, causing large puffs of frozen breath to cloud the air in front of me. My arms wrapped around myself, trying to protect me from the harsh, cold wind and keep anything from touching my sore, bruised, possibly broken ribs. My body began to shiver so hard that my muscles ached, I didn't know if it was from the cold or because of how much pain I was in. It was probably both. My bare feet slowly pushed through the several feet of snow, they were so numb I didn't even know if I was even walking on them, while my ripped t-shirt did nothing to keep me warm.

My head was pounding with a force so bad, that I just wanted to lie down and go to sleep. But my family needed me, they needed to know.

I looked around, hoping to see some kind of life around me. Buildings in the distance, or even a vehicle coming my way. But there was nothing, nothing but the faintest glow from the place I just came from, and complete darkness that splayed out all around me.

"What have I done?" I mumbled to myself as I slowly made my way through the miles of snow that only got deeper within the hours. The wind made haunting sounds, and I could see the shape of large animals running around off to the side in the distance.

"Maybe it's wolves. Hopefully, they stay away. I can't fight, I'm too weak," I mumbled to myself again.

I held myself a little tighter, trying to hide my face from the stinging snow falling from the sky. I hissed when I accidentally touched my ribs in the wrong place, I cried out and tears fell down my face, only to freeze a few moments later.

I stumbled falling to my hands and knees, the ice mixed into the snow cutting into my hand and causing large drops of blood to fall into the snow. It still wasn't as bad as my current injuries, I tried to make my way to my feet but I only fell again. I was too cold, too exhausted, and too hungry to keep going, but I had to keep going, I had to.

I didn't know where I was, I didn't know where I was going. But I knew I had to keep going. They can't find me, and if they do, I'm dead. I fought to keep my eyes open, fought to stand back up and keep going. But my body wouldn't move, my body lay there in the snow, half submerged in the ice substance for minutes, hours, maybe even days before a pair of warm hands carefully pulled me out. I was held against a warm body and carried to, well I don't know where.

The last thing I remember was seeing the place I lay before, completely soaked in red.

I'm finally starting on Regan's story!

The cover will change, I don't like it anymore and I think I can create something a little bit better.
