The Serpent in The Golden Cage

The cold dampness bit into my scaly hide as I lay there in my golden prison. No light enters this room they have placed me into for many millennia. The only company I get is that accursed human named Argus Blood. More torturer than company if his actions are anything to go by. Stabbing, slicing, prodding, and causing the electricity from my prison to cause me pain. He blames me for being the one causing him to be in this place; forever watching my prison, and I till his end days. He should blame his Ancestor for trapping me in this place; cursing her descendants to guard my prison.

Well, it doesn't matter to me since they will just die out soon; after all, Argus is her last descendant. I let a toothy grin grace my serpentine face with thoughts of the Blood Clan's demise. Too bad I can't escape this prison, I would have enjoyed speeding up that demise. The sound of footsteps approaching my chambers brought me out of my musings. The door opened revealing that oaf Argus; stumbling in, I could immediately tell he was drunk. The stench of cheap booze permeated my chambers the further he entered the room. The hubris flame of anger burned in Argus' blue eyes as he took out his poorly made dagger; the rusty blade is dull from the other times I became its pin cushion.

"It is all because of you I am stuck here guarding your worthless hide," Argus slurred as he sliced into my body with the dagger. Blood oozed from my newly gained wound. Rage ran through my veins as Argus tightened his sausage fingers around the blade. Stabbing, stabbing, and more stabbing is all I felt as Argus took his aggression out on me. My eyes closed shut because of the pain; when the rage built up passed my limit, My eyes snapped open. Wrath burned in my eyes as I struck out. Forgetting the consequences if my action, electricity sparked throughout the bird cage into my body. The pain coursed throughout my body causing my body to spasm in pain. Argus watched in sick glee as my body writhed in pain while the electricity continued to assault my body.

The electricity from the cage died down which lessened the pain running through my body. Finally, I could get some rest to let my wounds heal. But alas, it was not so. Argus, in all his five foot eight worthlessness, started back stabbing me with the dagger once again causing pain to run through my body once again. Pain is all I have known since this brown haired bastard took over his parents' place as my guard. How I wish to be free like the old days, when I could slumber in peace.

Just looking at his large body, and pasty skin makes me sick. I hate humans. I hate them so very much. Darkness took over as I pass out from the pain. An hour passed and I awaken to see Argus has left my chambers. I coil my body together then lay my head on the top coil.

"One day I will be free, and I shall bring my wrath down upon the humans," I whisper to myself as I close my eyes.

The scent of iron assaulted my sense of smell, lazy oaf can't even clean after himself. Now as I look back on the experiences that I learned, blood's thick pungent smell would be one of the first. As I lay in this metal prison, I think about all the blood baths caused by my presence alone. Armies upon armies tried to serve my head on a silver platter for their rulers. But they were easily swatted away like the worthless flies they were.

Look at me now, trapped inside this cage. A pathetic shell of what I used to be. Tortured and powerless. If the others could see me now, they would ridicule my situation. Taigan especially would get a twisted sense of humor with me caged up, and weak. Her and I never got along with each other throughout the long lives we have lived. I would say her hatrid for me will never end. Her shrill voice is still ringing in my head from the last time she yelled at me for what I said about the human she accompanied. I let out a small sigh, she would prefer that human over those that have treated her as family for years. Only to abondon them to become some guard dog for the city that wretch of a human recides in.

I didn't care about her leaving. Until that human decided it would be best to antagonize me in my own lair. When I went to strike that human, taigan dared to strike me. I was frozen still from shock. Had she not seen the human antagonize me? Call me weak? Of course she did but she didn't care. To her, the human could do no wrong. the smug look on the human's face made my blood boil. I shake my head of those memories. There is no point in remembering events of the past.

I clicked my fork tongue out in frustration. I must conserve my strength and break this cage. The feeling of excitement ran through my body. What is making me feel this way? Could it be the thought of escape? Or will there be a change coming? Whatever it is doesn't matter for now. Could be bad or could be good. It is too soon to tell. I close my eyes drifting to sleep thinking of the answer.

The next day I was awakened by the door to the room being slammed open. Opening my eyes, I watch as Argus wonders in with a glare on his face. Luckily he didn't smell of alcohol for once. I could tell by the look in his eyes something was going to happen.

"There is an important guest that will be arriving today, and I am telling you to keep quiet or I will make what I usually do to you look like a small tap," Argus threatened .

Argus slowly walked closer to the cage, step by step. I could tell this guest was someone who he didn't believe would come to this run down place. Once he stopped in front of my cage he peered at me through the bars.

" A much more worse punishment," he whispered angrily at my nonchalant gaze then left the room with the slam of the door.

I let out a audible huff at his attitude. Not drunk but still a ball of hate. I wonder who the guest is if it got him not to drink? Maybe I should have a little fun and make his day horrible? I chuckle with amusement at all the plans working through my mind.
