Jake, Corey, his sweet girlfriend, Devyn, and I were all hanging out in the living room just making small talk here and there since everyone else had gone out to another party.

"I think we should pull a prank on them sometime tomorrow." Jake insisted with a devilish smirk plastered on his face.

"Ooo, like what?" Corey beamed, excited at the idea of that.

"While they're sleeping, we could drag them with their mattresses to the backyard and let them float in the pool." Jake suggested an idea.

"That reminds me of the movie, 'Parent Trap'." I giggled.

"Oh my gosh, I love that movie." Devyn giggled as well.

"Bro, that's a great idea." Corey and Jake high-five each other.

"And you girls have to help us too." Jake said as he pointed to Devyn and I.

Devyn and I gave them a look before we shrugged our shoulders, "Okay." We said without even giving it a second thought, because it does seem like a fun little joke to play on the boys.

Suddenly the front door swung open revealing our friends, causing us to quickly shut up about the plan we were making, because we didn't want to ruin the surprise.

"What's up?!" A drunken Sam beamed as he stumbled his way in with Aaron by his side.

"Where's Colby?" Corey asked, noticing that emo boy wasn't with them.

"He's right behind us." Aaron chuckled as pointed back to the door.

Colby stumbled his way into the place with a pretty blonde clinging to his side. He wasn't as drunk as Sam, so he was fully aware of what he was doing right now and I couldn't help but feel hurt about it.

"What's up, guys!?" He grinned, making sure my eyes were locked onto his.

"Come on, baby." The girl purred, "Let's go upstairs." She giggled, tugging on his red flannel.

"Let's go, doll." He whispered, shooting me one last glance before disappearing.

His stares weren't the only ones burning right through me, everyone else in this room were staring right at me, waiting for a reaction that would prove their theory about Colby and I. But sadly, they will never get one, just not yet.

"Why are you all staring at me?" I questioned them, annoyed.

"Ooo, is someone jealous?" Sam teased with a chuckle before falling onto the floor from his lack of balance he had at the moment.

"Idiot." I mumbled to myself before making my way out the front door.

My heart was pounding against my chest as tears threaten to leak out of my eyes, "Eww, stop crying over a dumb crush." I hissed to myself.

I heard the door open behind me, and soon my best friend appeared by my side, "You know..." His voice trailed off as his eyes wander up towards the starry night, "I just realized that  I have never really shown you the real side of Los Angeles."

"Yeah, you owe me at least that." I mumbled, causing a chuckle to leave his lips.

"You want to go see the city lights?" He asked me.

"We don't have to go right now." I sighed, "Maybe another day." I suggested, only because I didn't want him to feel like he was forced to do this for me.

He shook his head, "When are you going to realize that you need to stop living for tomorrow, and live for today."  He whispered as his eyes meet mine.
