Keith started a fire as everyone sat around the camp fire in the cave underground, they put their armor to the side as everyone was in their black jumpsuits under their armor except for romelle and coran. Cosmo laid next to keith as they sat together, silent.

"This is stupid," pidge huffed a little sitting against hunk as romelle was next to her.

"None of us like it pidge," shiro nodded.

"Garrisons is right there, we shouldn't have to hide," pidge glared at him. "Our families are right there,"

"We all have someone to go back to, right there, but we all have to wait," shiro tried to tell her.

"Not all of us," Allura mumbled to herself and lance offered her a sad look.

"Some of us do!" Pidge snapped.

"Pidge Enough, Your right we do have our families but this is a war, we can't let that stop us from making sure we win," lance told her sternly as he hand the red Bayard in his hand tightly.

Pidge quieted down after that as they fell back into silence.

"We don't even know who still has families," pidge whispered and some tensed.

"We still have our families pidge," Keith glared at her.

"I can't wait to see mine," lance turned the conversation to a more positive one. "My niece and nephew are probably so big now,"

"My little sister and brother probably are too," hunk smiled.

"Shiro do you have any younger siblings?" Lance asked smiling.

"Nope, I was an only child, but Keith always been a little brother to me," Shiro smirked as the other paladin rolled his eyes.

"But I do have a fiancé at the garrisons," he smiled looking at their shocked faces.

"Who?"

"Is she a commander?!"

"How long?!"

"His name is Adam... but I don't know if we're still going to be together, he didn't want me going on the kurberos mission," Shiro shrugged a little and romelle cooed.

"Adam W, as in the fighter pilot instructor?" Lance asked in shock.

"That's the one," Shiro nodded.

"That guy was so cool!" Lance smiled. "He helped me a lot when I got into the fighter pilot stations instead of cargo," he snorted.

"He loved to teach," Shiro chuckled.

"Given the circumstances, I think he'll take you back," Keith smirked and shiro smiled back at him.

"I at least want to apologize to him, I never got too," Shiro explained.

"That's so sweet, earthlings relationships seem so sweet," romelle smiles brightly. "Not many have same gender as the normality for relationships,"

"What?" The humans asked confused.

"Well with lance and Keith, and shiro and his fiancé-" "me and lance are not together," Keith cut her off sharply.

"My apologies, it just seemed..." romelle blushed light blue in embarrassment and lance snorted.

"I have better taste than lance," he sent lance a glare and the Cuban gasped offended.

"I am an excellent taste for anyone," lance scoffed and sent Allura a wink. "Anyone,"

Allura glared.

"We should take shifts for look out, we don't need any galra ambushes," shiro told them as it was turning to night.

"I'll take first night," Keith got up grabbing his Bayard. Cosmo looked up and teleported to Keith's side.

"Don't you want to take shifts?" Hunk asked.

"We'll each take a night," keith told him and the two teleported away.

"Rude," lance frowned a little.

"Who's Taking What night then?" Allura asked hugging her knees to her chest.

"I'll take tomorrow night, up to you guys on which nights, we'll rotate each night from there," shiro nodded.

"Does that include us?" Romelle asked confused. "And how long are earth nights?"

"Yes that includes all Alteans," shiro nodded. Romelle and coran groaned.

"But we don't even have weapons," romelle whined.

"You'll have cosmo, your apart of this team, you take night shifts too," pidge smirked and they snickered. Romelle looked unamused but said nothing more.

They chatted a little longer as they grew tired and one by one parted to go sleep somewhere in the dirt of the cave. No one had anything to camp with, pidge had her large sweater as a pillow as lance held his green jacket and glanced at Allura as she laid down.

"You want my jacket? It gets cold at night," lance offered her.

"I'm fine lance," Allura turned her back to him and lance rolled his eyes a little and set it next to her anyways as he went on the other side of the fire to lay down.

He rolled on his back staring up at the ceiling of the cavern, looking up as if it was the stars. Soon he could see them, his night shift whenever that may be, he can star at the stars like he use to as a kid.

Lance sighed not wanting to close his eyes yet as the fire still flickered near by, the stars felt different to him now, now that he's been with them, been to space, but it was for a war, not to accomplish his goal as a pilot, because some alien lion chose him. It felt nice to know he was the first paladin truly chosen by the lions compared to everyone else being there, and blue still chose him.

Lance looked to the side seeing Alluras back to him, blue chose her too, makes sense, she's a talented princess who was Altean, her father made the lions. He looked back to the ceiling as keith would be above.

Lance wondered if keith missed the stars too. Or if he saw them in a different way now as well...
