"Finally, alone at last." He says.

"Yeah. Feels good." I sigh in content.

"So, how've you been?" He asks. "Everything is all good after talking to your friends?"

"Honestly, I don't know what's going on. I tried apologizing to Tamara but she made it seem like it was all my fault. Ethan, on the other, we're all good."

"That sucks, I'm sorry Tatianna. I know you planned on getting things back to the way they were." He caresses my shoulder.

"I'm 'bout to be done trying in a minute." I say.

"If you've been friends for a while, I say give it one more chance. Don't let this ruin your friendship." He states.

"I'm tired of giving her the benefit of the doubt, though!"

"Everything is gonna work out." He holds our hands up and places a kiss on mine.

"Fergie, out of all my years of knowing you, you always know the right things to say. You're always the peacemaker." I chuckle.

"I don't see the point in drama." He shrugs his shoulders.

"Can I ask you something?" I pull away from him and gaze into his eyes.

"Anything." He smiles.

"Why do you like me?"

"Tatianna, I could write a book about why I like you." He squeezes my hand.

"That's not answering my question." I giggle.

"You know what?!" He hops off the bench. "I almost forgot I got you a cupcake. A cute lil cupcake with hearts on it. Be right back."

He walks back into the house before I have a chance to respond. It makes me wonder if he just needed an excuse to dodge my question. Does he actually like me? Or is this some phase he is going through? I hate when things like this happen because it makes me overthink too much. My mind goes into overdrive of all the possibilities. I try not to think about it too much. I don't get time to as Fergie makes his way back onto the porch. This time he's holding a cupcake with a huge smile on his face. I swear he hasn't stopped smiling.

"Here." He hands it to me and sits back down. "I was only gonna give it to you if you said yes. If you would've said no, I would've ate that bitch."

"Shut up." I laugh.

I peel off the cupcake liner off and take a huge bite of the cupcake. It's chocolate—my favorite.

"Oh yeah," I groan, "this is good."

"Let me taste it." He says.

"Here." I hold out the cupcake to him with both hands.

"No, silly." He shakes his head, chuckling.

"What?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"I said," he whispers, leaning closer to my face, "let me taste it."

He slowly leans in closer to me, his eyes averting from my eyes to my lips. And I never thought I'd see Fergie like this. The vein protruding from his craned neck. The specks of gold in his bright eyes. The plumpness of his pink lips. The way his cheek bones sit up high with royalty. The way his fingers fidget beside him because he's just as nervous as I am.

My eyes close as his lips make contact with mine. His lips are cold and soft, sending sparks throughout my entire being. I can feel the warmth radiating from his body; it's driving me insane. Our lips tell a story, full of held back feelings and new hope. When we finally pull away from being out of breath, I can't help but smile at the guy who has stolen my heart.

"Damn, Tatianna." He groans, throwing his head back.

"I can't believe that just happened." I giggle, mumbling to myself.

"I was tryna wait until homecoming." He pecks my cheek. "But I couldn't. You asked me what I liked about you and words couldn't explain. Thought I'd show you."

"Who knew you could be this sweet?" I playfully poke his chest.

"Stop tryna feel on me." He jokes, moving my finger away.

"Boy." I roll my eyes.

"But for real, though." He stares at me. "I like you."

"I like you." I smile.

"You feeling the kid?" He smirks.

"You know what? Bye Fergie." I laugh, standing up.

"Where are you going?"

"In the house." I chuckle. "You play too much."

I try to walk away, but he grabs me by the waist and pulls me onto his lap. He wraps his arms tightly around my waist and rests his chin on my shoulder.

"Stay." He hums.

My heart does that thing where it nearly beats out of my chest. I can't do anything except smile until my cheeks hurt. You ever have that feeling when everything feels right? Like nothing else in the world compares to the moment that you're experiencing right now. The way a guy can make you feel so special.

"Are you gonna finish that cupcake?" He points to the cupcake.

"Here, man." I laugh, handing him the cupcake.
