Iris POV:

Someone might think that after hearing all that come from the mouth of someone who's about to be part of your family will anger me.

But it didn't and I don't hate him.

Instead I felt respect towards him.

Yeah, I know everyone might think that I'm crazy to be saying, that I respect the man more after he insulted me and that does sound wrong.

But, you see, this man gave me an earful and insulted me without any fear when he knows that one wrong move and for him everything will go down the drain, even still he didn't back down and stood up for his son.

Yes, I was hurt by what he said and it was not nice of him to say such things to someone without even knowing their part of the story. But the reason I respected him more after this little conversation of insults and threats, I figured that Adam, must really love his family.

He went full on mafia on me to threaten me not to hurt his son, he cared about his family so much that the thought of someone being hurt made him burst with rage.

I never knew Adam personally but I was aware that he was a laid-back and chill kinda person, and for him to lose his cool and fire at me like that, there must be a pretty good reason for that and that reason was that he loved his family immensely.

My father would never do such a thing for me or his family because I knew that he did not love us, the only thing he did love was money and power, and look what that bought him.

Death.

Adam was able to maintain his calm posture when Elliot and rest of the family came outside, I turned to Adam and gave him a genuine smile "I'll try to follow your advice and not cause any problems." I extended my hand towards him "We'll be going now, please take care of yourself and your family. I'll be going. Goodbye."

He seemed a little taken aback that I didn't burst at him as he did and was weirded out about why I was suddenly smiling and all but at that moment I felt the love and care radiate off of this family.

After bidding goodbye to everyone, I sat in the car first and through the window saw the whole family together, laughing, smiling and hugging each other.

There was no place or me among them and I fully understood that.

Elliot was very lucky to have such a loving family and at that moment I felt envious of him just like I felt everytime I saw a happy family.

Because I never had one.

                             ........................

It's been a week since both of us went to the family dinner and only one week is left for the engagement party. I was asked to move to Elliot's house one week prior to the party. So, I'll be moving today.

I wasn't sad to leave my house, I didn't have many things that I needed to pack and I had no idea what to feel about this situation.

I had no one to talk to and really needed someone right now. My stuff was packed and I was ready to welcome another problem in my life.

Elliot's house was quite far away in a less populated area which had quite the beautiful scenery. I liked this area as it was peaceful.

Upon reaching his house, all my breath was taken away as standing in front of me was one of the biggest and most beautiful houses I had ever seen.

It had a modern exterior and I couldn't even begin to describe the whole house. I had to say I was impressed to see such an exquisite mansion. Guess Elliot did have a good sense of design.

Instead of walls there were panes of glass that stood as walls on the backside and that was understandable because there was an enormous forest spread out and there were no houses what so ever in it's vicinity.

The whole interior was breathtakingly gorgeous. The backyard had a swimming pool which was so vast I wondered why he even needed such a big one when he lived alone.

The backyard was completely open and even though there was no garden or soil in the whole back or front yard, the house screamed nature and peace to me.

A garden wasn't even needed, seeing that we were surrounded by a whole forest and green lands.

I was busy gawking at the house when I felt someone moving beside me, so I turned around to see a really cute red-head smiling at me.

I went ahead to her and introduced myself "Oh, hi! I-ah, nice to meet you. I'm Iris Hale." I said with a small smile, as she returned my gesture "I know Ms. Hale, I was informed of your presence prior to your arrival. It's very nice to meet you too. I'm Melanie, Mr. King's assistant."

Melanie was a beautiful girl with a kind smile. She showed me all around the house and was very friendly. I asked her to just call me by my name because her calling me Mrs. King was very awkward.

She knew about the contract which deeply relieved me that was one less person I would have to lie to. She had a bubbly personality much like Ashlyn, but Melanie was level headed.

She lead the way to my room and saying that I was relieved was an understatement. I was glad that I would not have to share a room with Elliot.

All of this was so new to me that I had no idea how to react or respond. My room was spacious and cozy, the fact that the room was devoid of walls and had glass instead was kind of unsettling but thankfully only one side of the room had glass walls and that was the side which gave me a view to the forest.

My things were already in my room and I started unpacking. Today was my day off from work so I spent rest of the day unpacking and setting stuff to my liking.

I made small conversations with Melanie and to my relief she was easy to talk to and very friendly.

Sometime between my conversation with Melanie I heard the door next to mine open and she told me that the room beside mine was occupied by Elliot.

Our rooms were connected by a joint bathroom, much to my dismay but I didn't complain as I was the guest over here and it would be rude to act like a spoilt brat.

Greeting Elliot seemed to be the right thing to be but the guy didn't come out of his room for the rest of the night.

I figured that he was trying to avoid me so I didn't disturb him further, because if he doesn't want to talk to me so why should I be the one to?

I made dinner for myself and was about to eat the first bite when the door to Elliot's room shot open and coming through was a fuming Elliot and I just knew that I was the cause of his anger.

This is going to be a very long night...
