Chapter 20: A Mere Puppet, Fear of Oneself, A Promise to Asuka, Memory Fragments

So here we are, we're close to the end of Season 1 are y'all excited?! I know I am! SO LET'S DO THIS!

Lucian's POV

Yagyu was leading me to her room and when we got there I saw a small tank filled with fish, lots of squid plushies on her bed.

Yagyu: Excuse me for a moment while I feed the fish.

She then went to her closet and pulled out a bottle of fish food and began to feed the fish. Looking at her feeding the fish reminds me of when I used to have my kittens.

Lucian: (Feeding animals...that sure takes me back to when I had my summoning...I miss those five little half pints.) Hey Yagyu I was wondering about something.

Yagyu: What is it?

Lucian: If you weren't a shinobi what would you be in life?

Yagyu: Possibly a marine biologist now mind if I ask you of the same thing?

Lucian: For me...well I don't know to be honest I don't have much unique talents to call my own.

Yagyu: Well you are creative so...you might be a good artist or construction worker. You're kind to others and you treated Ikaruga's wounds before so maybe a nurse or a doctor? Let's see what else...you might be a good sensei one day since you're more of a "book that's waiting to be opened."

Lucian: A book that's waiting to be opened? What does that mean?

Yagyu: Remember how I told you you speak differently when you're becoming philosophical? It sounds as if you've experienced it all before and you might be able to pass that knowledge onto other students.

Lucian: Huh...never thought of becoming a sensei in that aspect...hmm.

In my mind I began to think of myself as a sensei and hearing the students call out to me saying "Lucian-sensei" and immediately that thought popped itself.

Lucian: Nah I don't think I'd be a sensei plus the name "Lucian-sensei" sounds weird to me.

Yagyu: I see...well then ready?

I didn't notice that Yagyu had already brought out the chessboard after she was done feeding the fish.

Lucian: All right.

I took a seat and began playing chess with Yagyu after she gave me a refresher on what the chess pieces do. Throughout the entire time all that could be heard was the soft sound of chess pieces being placed. No conversation was held at the time and surprisingly it was quite pleasant a nice quiet game and with Yagyu changed into a new person and not going back to her old self it was pretty fun. I took small glances at Yagyu and sometimes she would either give a small smile or just ponder what to do next soon after that she managed to beat me.

Yagyu: Checkmate.

Lucian: Oh man, good game though.

Yagyu: Indeed so want to go again?

Lucian: Yes!

So we played a couple of more games but each time we played Yagyu won against me numerous amount of times while for me I only managed to get 2 wins off her.

Lucian: Yeesh Yagyu you're pretty good.

Yagyu: I have been playing chess for awhile and I've played against Ikaruga before you ever arrived. It's been quite some time since we last played. I think I should invite her to come play for a couple of rounds.

Lucian: What about the others?

Yagyu: The others? Well...you already know. Asuka sets herself up in a bind quite fast in this game resulting in my victory, Katsuragi she'd probably won't want to play cause the game would be too slow for her, as for Hibari we tried playing once and well that didn't go well cause you know...meanwhile for you...you can be complicated to read in this game you're planning is good but it's the execution that's lacking.
