As leaves withered, leaving nothing but a crunch when creatures pass by. The bark of the towering trees was rough and sharp, pealing off like dead skin while the roots twisted and dug through the soil with points sticking out like needles. *view on
The ground trembled under the footsteps of a mere child speeding forward into the endless woodlands. Hurriedly, their monotone converses crashed against the pools of mud that now caked their bare legs, almost reaching their shorts at the top of their knees. The dull hood of their hoodie thrashed against the back of their torso which was circled by a colour drained rainbow obviously aged.
Streams of tears flowed from their emerald eyes down their red cheeks falling off the sides into the abyss behind them. Hair clung to their face from the damp air of the forest as their warm breath steamed in front of them.
Finally, they came to a stop. Caught their breath and dropped in defeat to wipe their eyes away while they sobbed.
Crunch!
