"I miss you honey! Hope you have a great day at school."

"Thanks Mom. I miss you too." Lydia ends the call with her Mother and throws the phone into her bag, rushing through the school's hallways as she is already late for the class. Not cientifically late, given that she still has a minute. But Lydia just doesn't like to be so in the spur of the moment and have her students wait too much for her.

Just to think that ten years ago Lydia was attending MIT and now she is the one giving classes just warms her heart.

She finally enters class, noticing the students are already sat in their places with their books already out.

"Good morning, class." Lydia greets with her signature smile as she makes her way to her desk, placing her Maths books on it as the students greet her back.

"Today we will deepen the content we talked about last lesson, so the only thing I ask you is for you to pay the maximum of attention possible." Lydia then proceeds to write equations and formulas that she knows by heart in the board, and teaches her students like she's been doing for over three years now.

Lydia is still young - she's only 28 -, but the Fields Medal that's framed and placed cautiosly above her desk back at home says that these past ten years were made out of studying, learning and trying to create a theorem that would justify some of the biggest mathematical mysteries from all those centuries ago. She did it.

Along the way, Lydia never lost contact with her friends and family. She talked with Allison almost everyday via skype, since she was over 4800KM away from them in Massachusetts; Malia twice a week by calls and her Mother every single day and, sometimes, more than once a day.

The only one whom she didn't talk to was Stiles.

It still hurts when Lydia's mind sometimes wanders to him. Everytime she would dial his number on her phone, she would never end up finding the strenght to hit the call button. She knew her feelings for him were still there, and she was also pretty sure they would never really go away - those few months being with him in a real relationship were the best she's ever had - but finally she decided to let him go, just like he did to her.

Lydia doesn't blame him, though. They had both agreed to it when Stiles came back from his FBI Internship. Lydia was going to Massachusetts and Stiles was going to Washington DC. It was the best for them.

The only source of news of Stiles came from Scott and Allison, since the two best friends never stopped calling each other, and it had been that way for the ten years they've been apart.

The Banshee eventually found love again with a guy her age who was having the same classes as her, and they've been together ever since. However, Lydia never felt quite the same when she was with him than how she had been with Stiles, but she has realized over the years that she had to move on with her life if she wanted to go anywhere in her career. And don't get me wrong, Lydia loves Ryan with all her heart, it's just different.

"Don't forget to finish the exercises from the pages 34 to 37 and I hope you have a nice weekend." Lydia dismisses her students 100 minutes later, sitting on her desk to get everything prepared to finally head home.

Right when she is ready to leave the room, the Principal knocks on the door, getting her attention.

"Ms. Martin?" Lydia looks up to see the owner of the voice and quickly recomposes herself as she realizes who it is. "We need to have a small conversation. Would you mind meeting me in ten minutes in my office?" He asks.

"Not at all. I'll be there Sir." Lydia answers with a polite smile.

"Thank you." And the man exites the room, leaving Lydia wondering about what he would like to talk to her about.

****

Lydia has been pacing around her room in her house for about fifteen minutes, her hair disheveled from moving it with her fingers so much. Ryan isn't home yet, but Lydia isn't expecting him to be anyways. He's got a lot of work, and even if they've been trying their best to be together, they just can't. They're going through a difficult time and Lydia's situation won't help it at all.

A grunt leaves her mouth in what feels like the fiftieth time in just seven minutes, and Lydia slumps in her bed, picking her phone up and dialing a number she knows by heart.

After a few beeps, a voice comes from it.

"Lydia?"

Lydia exhales a breath she didn't know she was holding when she hears her best friend's voice, and she sits straighter on her bed.

"Hey Ally." Lydia smiles. Just knowing that they could've lost her all those years ago but were fast enough to save her fills her heart with happiness.

"Hey, Lydia, everything alright? How are things going on in there? Any news? " Allison asks with her overly  joyfull voice.

"Actually, yes, things have been going great. But first I need to know how you guys are holding up. How's little John doing?" Lydia's smile widens at the thought of her "nephew" John, who's almost a year old now. She has only seen him in person twice when Allison and Scott had visited her in surprise both when he was born and her birthday, but they always make sure to send her pictures every once in a while.

"Oh, John's amazing. Pretty much having fun not letting his parents get any sleep but other than that, we're all good. Scott's amazing with kids." Allison answers, her voice softening with her last words.

"I'm so happy for you Ally... I really am." Lydia says, her voice cracking slightly with emotion.

"And we're so proud of you Lydia, you are the most intelligent person I know." Allison replies, the huge smile pretty evident in her voice. "Now enough of us. Tell me things, because I know there's something not so good going on in there. Your voice is different.

Lydia still gets surprised when Allison literally just knows that something's worrying her. She takes a deep breath, embracing herself for what's to come.

"Allison, I don't know how I'm supposed to tell you this." Lydia starts.

"Just say it Lydia, I'm listening."

Lydia's eyes fill with tears and she closes them shut, sighing softly as she focuses on the steady breathing on the other end of the line.

"I'll have to leave Boston."

"You what? " Allison's exclamation almost injures Lydia's ear. Almost.

"It will be just for a few months, though. The Principal talked to me a few hours ago and he wants me to move to another school while a teacher is in her  pregnancy certificate." Lydia continues.

"I can't see the problem there, Lydia. You will meet new people, why are you so nervous?

"I just don't know if I want to go back."

"Go back? Go back to where? "

"Allison, I'll have to move back to Beacon Hills."
