Is it wrong to say that I kind of enjoyed being at the hospital?

Okay, I wasn't too excited, I mean, I was missing a leg, but every day I got to hang out with Connor. And every night was like a sleepover. I had never been to an official sleepover before.

We would stay up into the night, talking until the other person fell asleep. I was usually the first.

There was one time where we were talking about TV and how I had only seen a few shows. I liked, Whose Line Is It Anyways?.

He only watched TV during the school year, well, because it was his only time away from camp.

He told me about a show where it was made to look like a documentary, but it wasn't actually one. It was set in a paper supply office. It sounded like it was a funny show. There was an office romance too; I liked the idea.

I had thought about the show for a few moments before asking the pitch black room, "Where do you think I'd be able to watch it?"

There was a pause of silence before Connor answered, "Hm? Oh, at my house, someday."

"Really?" I asked the dark room.

He gave a little, "Mhhm."

A smile formed on my face, my eyes suddenly felt heavy. "Goodnight, Connor."

"Goodnight, Sky."

I was on my third day of physical therapy. I could now use crutches to go to the bathroom...if someone helped me.

I gave a groan as we watched the movie, Up, on the hospital TV.

Connor turned his head to me. "You need to go?"

I felt my face get hot. I complained, "It's so much work!"

A grin grew on his face and he replied, "Oh, poor thing. C'mon. Doctor said you need these little walks."

I gave another whiney groan as he came to hand me my crutches.

"This is so embarrassing. I should make you leave," I said, turning to the side of the bed.

He grinned even more. "Everyone poops, Sky. I think there's a book about it."

Once my foot was dangling off the bed I laughed and said, "Well, you should get me that book."

"You know I will."

I gave a little smile and adjusted the back of my hospital gown, so nothing was showing. "Yeah, I know."

"Alright," he said like it was time to get down to business. He held his arm out for me to hold on to.

"Thanks," I told him, hefting myself up.

I held onto him until both arms had a crutch underneath them.

I started hopping towards the bathroom door, with Connor behind me in case I fell.

When I made it safely inside, Connor started closing the door. "I'm going to go fill my water bottle up," he told me. "I'll be right back."

"Alright," I told him.

He shut the door and left.

After I was done doing my business, I realized I technically had to wait for Connor to get back.

But I'm not a very patient person.

So, I attempted to get back to my bed...by myself.

I was able to push myself up and lean against the sink to wash my hands.
