"This is by far the dumbest thing I have ever heard." I say to them.

"Oh please it'll be great! Just trust us!"
Shauna says.

We're standing on the roof of a building in the city, about six stories high, over looking the river.

The plan is to jump off the building and into the water.

Past the deadly rocks, glass, factionless, and who knows what else.

"Come on just do it!" Zeke says.

"Look Y/N, it'll be great, I've done this a million times." A pink haired girl, Lana assures me.

"Coward." Someone mocks. I turn to face a tall, dark skinned guy,  with perfect curly hair, with deep brown eyes and a serious face.

"I am not a coward."

"If you're not a coward, then you're gonna jump with the rest of us right?"

I hesitate.

This is dangerous.

I could die from this.

This isn't what Eric would do.

Or Glades.

They aren't here.

"Yeah, I'm gonna jump."

They cheer and back to the edge of thr the roof.

I'm nervous yet jittery. Oh gosh. I could die from this I could seriously hurt myself doing this. This is so dumb oh gosh you know what forget it I can't do this.

"1!" Zeke calls out.

Oh God.

"2!" Shauna says after.

What the hell.

"3!" I yell and start running.

I hear my footsteps pounding into the pavement, my heart beating in my chest.

A surge of energy flows through my blood, making me feel like I'm on the edge.

It feels wonderful.

I run faster and faster to the jump point.

Everything in my body is telling me yes, go, jump, be free.

And so I do.

I leap from the building, flying into the air.

Free.

Happy.

Everything is in slow motion.

From jumping, to the howling wind in my ears, to crashing into the water.

The water closes around me.

I pop up to the surface. A deep breath of fresh air.

I'm a few feet away from the group.

"Y/N! Over here!" Shauna waves to me with a smile.

I quickly swim over to them.

"So? How was it?" The guy asks.

How was it?

I smile at him. "It was amazing."

Lana laughs, "Let's head back."

We climb out of the water, factionless staring at us.

I'm so soaked. My clothes are sticking to my body and my shoes are squishing with water.

We wait for the train. The group is all smiling and laughing about something. I try to listen and join in, but something in me is slowly going out, like a candle.

What is that?

I was fine before the jump......

Then it hits me.

That feeling.

Why isn't it there?

What happened?

I need more.

I feel so lost, so gone.

Oh gosh. I need it back.

The train arrives. We run and jump on it.

Shauna and Zeke sit next to each other and Lana sits on the left of me and the guy sits on the right.

"Hey...." He nudges my arm. "I'm Tyler by the way."

"Y/N."

"You were great back there, maybe tomorrow you want to come with me and a few others, we're gonna go to the city."

I look at him. He's smiling at me, all teeth. His shirt is sticking to his muscles. He seemd happy. But Eri-

"Yeah. Sounds great." I say before I could finish the thought.

"I'll be there."
