"I care so much about you it hurts"

I had just gotten out of the hospital after a nasty fall at work.

I was out for a day or two and I expected to wake up to you there.

Instead it was a nurse.

I didn't see you again until late into the afternoon.

I had gotten mad at you because I had no idea where you were.

"DO YOU CARE ABOUT ME AT ALL?!"

You immediately consoled me and told me how much you cared for me.

I felt stupid after for making a big scene.

You said that it was okay and said that you probably would have done the same.

You signed me out of the hospital since my mother was too busy to come get me.

And then took me to get ice cream as an apology.

But if you really cared wouldn't you have stayed with me in that hospital?
