It gets bad when
You think about your achievements
And your goals, aspirations, ambitions
And realise
They're a spec in the distance
They're far fetched
Soon become unimaginable
It gets bad when
You tell yourself to always have hope
Because you should, there's promise
There's promise in the future
But one day you wake up
Finding your hope faded and grey
It gets bad when
You look in the mirror
And you can't see what you've become
From what you once were
The world has become darker
You can barely see
The bright sunny image
Smiling back at you
Of the fuzzy little creature you once were
You can tell
When life has been drained
Like their soul has been ripped
They're a shell of a human
They're not living, they're just there
On this planet
Without trust, courage or determination
They're just trudging through the every day
And when you look in the mirror
You see that on you
You've lost your reflection
A thing that would never leave you
It would always be there
But when you can't see yourself
In that reflective piece of glass
Who you are
Your humanity
Is lost
And that's when you know
It gets bad
