You slowly open your eyes. With a jolt you realise that you have work that day. You always forget on Monday's. "Shit!", you gasp as you check your phone and find that it is almost 9 am.
As you quickly pull on your trousers, you remember that Captain Fowler had said he would assign you with a new case. You would also be working with partners which, of course, is new to you too as you had only worked solo. Mainly because all you had been doing before this was paper work but finally, it was the real deal!
As you turned up at the office, an old man was sitting by your desc on a spare chair. You approach the desc while still being wary about the old man. He was the guy who always turned up at least four hours late and always smelt like ten gallons of beer and wine. Guess he made a special effort today.
"Oh shit, look who's here!", the old man said with an irritated sarcastic voice.
"Oh well I'm sorry for sitting in my seat.", you mumbled. You didn't like being talked to like that. Most of your life you had been spoilt and cherished like some kind of queen. No was never an opinion for your parents.
The old man chuckled. "Well, aren't we proud. So much for a good first impression. My names Hank. You?", he said while eyeing you up and down.
"Names Y/N."
"Well, Y/N, I'm sure we are gonna get along like a house on fire."
A long silence between you two went on and on. You were busy looking at files and didn't feel like interacting with low life's.
Suddenly the silence was broken by a soft yet firm voice next to you.
"Here's your coffee, lieutenant."
You look up to see an Android handing a coffee to Hank. You immediately looked down. You hated Androids. Whenever one disobeyed anyone in your house, your father would see an end to that. Fuck them. You couldn't believe that they were starting to rebel.
"Are you alright, Detective L/N? Your adrenaline is higher than average."
"Oh just leave her be, Connor. There's no point trying to talk to her."
You were also disgusted by the fact that people named Androids. They didn't need names. Just numbers or something.
The Android, Connor, looked a little put out and anxiously said, "Oh.. right."
He pulled in a chair in between you and Hank and proceeded to look at cases. You heard him speak again. "There's a report of an Android running with a young child. The Deviant abducted the child from her home and is on the run to, from what we can tell, Canada."
Hank sighed "Well, worth checking round the area.", he stood up and walked away.
You and Connor looked each other in the eye for a second and followed behind.
*Thank you for reading the first chapter! I know my writing skills aren't great and I'm still really young so constructive criticism is happily accepted. I'm not sure when the next chapter is coming out but I will do my best to get it out soon. Thanks!*
