Demi desperately wanted to call out to her mother, but she knew it was of no use. Her mother and stepfather were dead; she may have been young, but Demi wasn't stupid. She didn't know what was going on outside but she knew they were dead; she could feel it deep in her soul. Demi lay there silently as she heard the thud, thud, thud of what she presumed were the bodies of her parents being dragged down the stairs. She'd decided there were three of the monsters that had been described on all the news channels that day since it had all started early in the morning; there had been three snarls so naturally, there must be three monsters. Demi lay under her bed silently, just waiting, not daring to move. She heard one of the three monsters walking around outside her bedroom door. It crashed it's way into every room but hers. Demi thought this was odd, seeing as her parents had been stood outside her door when they'd been killed. The monster made it's way downstairs, but Demi still daren't move. Just as she was beginning to breath again, thinking she was a little safer, Demi heard one of the monsters return. She lay perfectly still, being careful not to breath loudly. Then, a thud came from outside her room. This time, the monster had noticed her door. Then another, louder thud; the monster was trying to break into her room. The thudding carried on for a few seconds when it suddenly stopped. Just when Demi began, once more, to think she was safe, her bedroom door was pulled from it's hinges and thrown across the room. Demi held her breath; she'd always had a weird talent that everyone hated, where she was able to hold her breath for over a minute. This was a rare time where her peculiar talent would come in handy and might just save her life if she could hold it in for long enough. Demi took one last quiet breath and lay motionless under her bed. She watched as huge, furry wolf-like feet stepped into her room. She watched on as the feet walked around the room, analyzing everything. Their owner sniffed and snarled as it threw things around; it seemed to be looking for something. It returned to the end of the bed; Demi could smell wet dog coming off its fur. The monster suddenly seemed to know she was there; it turned on the balls of it's feet and started to bend down. Just as Demi was about to come face to face with it, whimpering snarls came from downstairs and food steps came closer and closer. A pair of boots appeared where the bedroom door had once been. "Oh! Hello. Not interrupting anything, am I?"
