I had never given any thought to the meaning behind this famed quote until I realized my life was going to change forever. My name is Scarlett Cahill and this is just the beginning of my untold story.
It all began back in the year 1992. This was the year "New York, New York" became the official anthem of NYC,this was the yearMike Tyson knocked out Hector Mercedes in 1 round in his 1st pro fight and it's also the year I made my grand entrance into this world. Such an entrance that the person who brought me into the world took a one way trip away from it.
Imagine being a 'murderer' your first day on earth, it's not really a beginning anyone would want. Everyone who was supposed to love me, hated me for killing her. Everyone, except my dad.
Scott Cahill, the best father a girl could ever ask for. He raised me to be the woman I am today and everything I do, is to make him proud. He wasn't the average suburb father. He had an early start at fatherhood as he was only 18 years old when I was born. It was tough for him, a teenager to raise a newborn baby on his own, especially a baby girl.
Even though he was alone in this, he succeeded at every stage of my upbringing. From putty training, to the horror of my first period, he never quit on me. He taught me my ABC's and my 123's, he gave me my first driving lesson and was there to comfort me whenever I was feeling down. I loved my dad more than life itself and he loved me the same.
I never felt unloved or alone. I had him and he had me, that was all that mattered.
