__________

The world has suddenly become gray and black.

Gone was the brilliant azure of the sky, only marred by a few threads of feather-like clouds. Gone was the emerald blaze of the leaves where the sun's rays lent an almost fantasy-like aura. All colors disappeared, all sounds muted and dull that the young man fleeing in haste and anger could only hear the sound of his hammering heart deep within his chest where he could feel a barrage of emotions that he could not quite understand. The birds had gone silent. The traffic went on a stand-still.

Tinn Medthanan, scion of one of the most successful empire of Thailand, trudged on, his face clouded in a mask that bespoke of the tumult within him; oblivious to the stares that followed his passing since he stormed out of the gym. Not a few passersby took pictures of the young man, carrying a paperbag hurried towards where a black car was parked. Not once did he took notice. On usual days, he would have given respect to an elderly person, formally greeted a nice lady that wanted a picture of one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, would have offered a smile; but that day was different. That day, was the day he felt scorned.

He could still remember the smile on Can's face when he reached out his hand to accept the bag of gifts from that harlot. He could not help but remember a time years ago when he offered gifts for his lover's sister and mother and they were not accepted because of some honorable reason that Can did not want for him to be taken as a free loader; one of the reasons that he fell in love with the naïve and gullible little white monkey in the first place. But seeing his boyfriend accept somebody else's gift when his was not enough was such a low blow to Tin's esteem. He felt betrayed. He felt the world has come crashing down on him at such a display of his unworthiness.

Can's face was alarmed when he saw Tin. That only added to his feeling of betrayal knowing that Can himself knew that what he did was wrong. He never really wanted Can to work in the first place, but the other young man could be stubborn in ways that Tin could not help but haggle on ways that they could compromise; and one of those compromises was that he should not accept any gifts from anybody else, much less that woman whom Tin knew was the reason behind the late night Line messages, the Facebook stalking and at times, Can's extended work hours at the gym simply because the aging diva wanted to work out.

Tin opened the automatic lock to his car door and shut himself inside. In anger, he threw the paper bag that he was carrying to the backseat where a box of the newest trainers fell and spilled its contents on the carpeted floor. In disgust, Tin reached out to the brand new shoes and shoved it back inside the box and placed it where his eyes could not see the offending shoes. They reminded him too much of what just happened inside the gym.
