love at first sight

love at first sight

they had been watching each other

from across the coffee shop

it had been the same way

each day

for over two weeks

side glances

hidden smiles

slight blushes

she watched as he finished his coffee

got up

and began walking toward the door

as always

as he did every day

he would walk by her table

glance her way

smile shyly

and he would be gone

and she would feel more alone

than she ever felt

she watched

as he once again left her life

she closed her eyes

and heaved a sigh

fighting back a tear

“Excuse me?”

she opened her eyes

he was sitting at her table

they stared at each other

for what seemed like

eternity

finally he said

“Do you believe in love at first sight?”

she shook her head

“Not until I saw you”
