As time went on the loneliness slowly got more bearable for the Dragon Prince Virgil. He still missed his betrothed Patton terribly but over time it became more of a dull ache rather then a sharp pain. Virgil also discovered that he rather enjoyed flying which made passing time much easier. Then one day he got an idea, 'Seeing as becoming a dragon was a curse, shouldn't there be a counter curse or a way to remove it?'. But to find out of that was true he would need to find a way to communicate with people, and seeing as he only became human at night this would be difficult, to say the least. Then he had another idea so the next day he flew to a small village on the mountain. Then he did his best to be utterly terrifying which, considering he was a huge purple dragon wasn't too hard. As the villagers fled he knocked down a couple of the better looking houses that were empty in search of a writing desk that would have paper, pens and ink in it. Then taking it in his claws he flew away. That night he wrote a note that said "If you want any chance of seeing your beloved again come to the mountain tomorrow and bring 3 days worth of supplies - tell no one". Then after addressing it "For the eyes of Prince Patton only" he flew off to the castle. Using the cloak of darkness (he could only become human if he was on the mountain) he searched the balconies to find a place where his letter would be noticed. To his surprise he saw Patton leaning on the rail of the balcony connected to his room. It had been a little over a year since Virgil had been cursed and 'died'. This combined with the fact that it was a chilly night made him wonder what Patton was doing there. Stealing himself, Virgil dropped the letter right behind Patton.

Patton heard it hit the stone and looked, around not seeing anything he then looked up and down finally seeing the paper. He picked it up and looked around again, still seeing nothing he shrugged and carried the note inside.

Seeing that his letter had been received he flew away though the night, back to the mountain to sleep and wait to see if his beloved would come.

Patton went inside and looked at the paper in his hands more closely. Even before opening it he sat down on his bed hard. This was Virgil's handwriting! but that couldn't be right. Virgil was dead.. killed by a dragon. Wasn't he...? With shaky hands Patton unfolded the paper and read it. After reading it several times and studying the handwriting closely he lay down holding the letter to his chest and cried silently.

In his cave Virgil sighed and turned over. Seeing Patton again after so long apart was hard.
