"Did you just...?"

"Yes Lisa, I just asked that question," Jennie deadpanned making my heart beat faster. "Jen, you know how much I care about you and how much I really like-"

"Lili baby, it's a yes or no answer, but my family is really insisting you meet them."

It was going well, the winter break had just started and Jennie and I were celebrating by cuddling underneath the stars with this gigantic blanket covering us at the back of Daesung's truck, then she suddenly asked if I wanted to meet her whole family.

"It's just, I'm really bad with parents..." I trailed off reminiscing the last time I first met my ex's family, it was a nightmare.

"My ex's family didn't really like me at the start," I quietly admitted.

Jennie tensed up at the mention of my ex and shifted uncomfortably, "you never really talk about your ex," she timidly said.

"Because she doesn't matter," I shrugged while tightening my grip around her.

"I know, but I wanna know what she was like..." she was being careful and I appreciated that.

"Her name was Sunmi," I reluctantly said, "I kinda knew she was going to cause pain the first time I met her, but I still chose to be with her. She was very beautiful though, she was patient, but not patient enough," I sighed and I swear I could feel Jennie's uneasiness.

"She got mad at me because I always walked out on arguments and just acted like it never happened, but I don't blame her, I would've been frustrated with myself too. There was this one particular day though, it's when she told me she loved me."

Cue awkward silence.

"I couldn't answer her, I didn't say it back and so she left, after all the times I left she finally left, she told me she couldn't do it and she's been waiting around for so long, she said all I do is leave her with unanswered questions and leave when things get heated," Jennie was tense the whole time, "I didn't fall yet, but I was so close, I was about to fall and she just left me with a broken heart, I guess she was patient, but she want patient enough," I concluded my story with a sigh.

"Well...she must've been very special," that hint of awkwardness in her voice didn't sit well with me.

"Love, if you didn't want to know about Sunmi you didn't have to ask," I nonchalantly said. "I did want to know until I heard the way you spoke about her," Jennie replied in a small voice, I was confused by her answer though.

"What do you mean?"

Jennie suddenly sat up and twisted her body to face me, she looked vulnerable.

"You just seemed really in love with her, that's all."

I stared at her in confusion, is she really saying this right now?

"Jennie, I don't love her anymore," I let out a small chuckle indicating how absurd she was being.

She raised an eyebrow at me telling me she doesn't believe me.

"I don't! I promise!" I exclaimed while laughing a little at the end. I scooted closer to her with a playful smile on my face.

"If it makes you feel any better, I would love to meet your family," that was a lie, but I would do anything to make her smile at the moment.

Her eyes met mine as a smile made its way on her face, "you would?" Her voice was an octave higher.

"Of course I would," another lie.

"Great, my grandma arrives next week, I'll text you the date," she was all cheerful and perky again.
