It was all a dream!

Flashback 1998

I woke up to my alarm clock playing Big Pun still not a playa and my mom banging on the door.

Mrs. Ann- Darren Get ya ass up you gonna miss your presentation

Darren- I'm up momma

My alarm always gave me hell in the morning it wasn't like I didn't like school I was a 4.0 student and I always had good grades. The problem was that I really didn't have many friends I have two fiends I Kia and Marcus. Marcus and I have been friends since freshman year he was also my vice when I became president of the debate team. Kai used to like me until she found out I liked boys she kind of fit right in with us we were just the nerdy bunch of underdeveloped kids.

I finally got dressed and walked into the kitchen to see dad reading the newspaper and drinking his coffee we always had a good relationship

Mr. Peter Morning son I got my camera all ready for your big science project you showing today I got all morning off at the garage just to see you too.

Me - thanks dad but could you not scream and holler at this one please.

Mr.Peter – Boy I brought you into this world I can scream and holler if I want to.

Mrs.Ann - Peter will you stop bothering that boy please he has to go to school

Me – Oh yeah I'm gonna be late I say as I run out the door.

Even though my presentation wasn't until fourth period I always had good attendance and didn't wanna mess it up.

While running in the building I ran head first into C.J, wide receiver of the football team who along with his running back bestfriend Taye hated me.

C.J. - Aye man watch where the fuck you going

Me- I...I....I'm sorry C.J. I didn't meant I was in a hurry.

C.J. I should fuck your little ass up

Then Marcus just appears out of nowhere....

Marcus – Hey you can't keep bullying him like that

And to my surprise Old Lady Grey the librarian helped by simply walking out of her office in the library. Everyone scrambled out of the hallway except me and Marcus then Kai showed up.

Marcus – Whew you all most got jumped before first period

Me – I could've got out of it quicker if you didn't say anything

Marcus – Sorry I was trying to help

Kai – I can't wait until we graduate so we don't have to deal with them and we really shouldn't have to because you and Taye's thing

Marcus – she's right he supposedly likes you and treats you horrible then laughs while you almost get beat up by his best friend

Me- both of you shut up he just was protecting his image

Kai & Marcus – WHAT IMAGE

Me – I have to go to my next class I'll talk to you guy's later

As I was in the bathroom looking in the mirror I see Taye come out one of the stalls

Taye – what you all mad for?

Me – you always go mute when C.J. tries to rough me up

Taye – Bruh it aint that serious

Me – Yes it is we've been messing around for a year and you keep acting like I'm no one to you

As I'm walking out he grabbed my arm

Taye – you know I love you right

Those very words tore through my plaid shirt all the way to my heart that

was the first time I heard him say that and just like that all was magically forgiven. All the lies betrayal in my world Taye and I would go off to college together and then be together away from everything and everybody.

Without a word I left out the bathroom not showing it but I was gleaming with happiness inside Taye was the man of my dreams. And after that encounter the rest of the day even my presentation was a blur.

That Saturday was Taye's graduation dinner his parents had it at big fancy place. They could afford it because his parents were very well off and so were C.J.'s parents who lived next door to Taye I guess that's how they became best friends. I wasn't really concerned with that right now because I was invited to his dinner as a guest. Then that was short lived as the abundance of classmates started to pour in once again my importance to him dissolved.  (I know I had some problems and major self-esteem issues back then but cut me some slack I was in love.) And what would happen next would break my heart in a million pieces.

Taye stood up as if he going to make an announcement then he took Kayla Mitchell our class president by the hand and when he started talking everyone in the room disappeared like it was just us three.

Taye- well family and I want to thank you all for being here first of all but I standing here to also thank you all for standing beside me in my process of becoming a man, Now my girlfriend Kayla and I have a announcement to make were getting married and having baby........

What a baby getting married what huh why you would've thought that I'd got hit by a MAC truck I didn't know what got crushed first my heart or my spirit. He said he loved me he spent all his time with me me what about me.

In the mist of all the congratulations and well wishes I managed to slip out the main room but not before seeing C.J. with a stern look on his face

C.J. you really thought yall were gonna magically be together you might be smart but you dumber than you look. I just ran out the door and kept going. After that I didn't even go to graduation even if I was valedictorian I faked sick then after that I left I went off to college and started my life.
