Ch. 1 The Shark and The Seahorse

AN: So this totally isn't an idea I had staring at the ceiling. (It was) 'kay so if your wondering I made Kiri a shark for obvious reasons, and Deku a seahorse 'cause I don't know jack about different sea creatures and all I really know is they're cute and the males take care of the young (it's canon that kids like him) so perfect. Why I made these two the mermen I have no fucking clue.

The two were seen as more than friends, like brothers. Racing across the ocean floor looking for seashells and pearls, eating various kinds of plants and fish, giving each other heart attacks, or just resting on rocks along the coastline of the island they lived near, they did it together. They were an unlikely duo, Kirishima a red eyed basking shark and Midoryia a green eyed deep blue seahorse, but they still were the best of friends. Kirishima had black hair and a dark grey tail covered in black spots. He was fun loving and always playful, he would more likely than not trying to make friends with everyone he met. Through he was a bit if a troublemaker. Midoryia's hair was a deep forest green, his cheeks were spotted by freckles, and his tail was a beautiful curl of greed and blues. He was calm and sweet, much smarter than his friends, but was very shy. The two had been friends as long as they had known each other, but both had forgotten how they even meet. All they knew was they were best friends from the beginning and not even the events of this story changed that.

It was a day like any other, as the two lounged on some of the smoother coastal rocks far from the beach. "Ei-chan," the smaller boy asked out of the blue. "Hm?" the bigger responded sitting up. "We should head out, there's a boat coming this way," Midoryia said as he pointed to a speedboat that was coming to them. Kirishima looked at the boat before sliding into the water. "Izukuuuu the water's so cold and this rock is so waaaaarm though." Kirishima jokingly wined laying his head and torso back on the rock hugging it. The greenette rolled his eyes he slid into the water as well. "Ei-chan you know humans are, well humans." Midoryia sigh at his friend's childish behavior. "Who knows what they would do to us if they caught us." Kirishima looked at his friend than at the approaching boat again while still on the rock.

"Humans aren't all bad you know." the black haired shark mumbled as he crossed his arms to rest his head on. "Plus it's not like we can't hide and wait for them to leave." The greenette sighed once more. "Ei-chan, you're hoping it's him aren't you," Midoryia said to the shark. The blackhead just continued staring at the boat. Before the boat was close enough to see them the two ducked behind the rock.

The vehicle came to a stop a couple of meters away from the rock the mermen hid behind. "Bakugou, why do you want to go swimming all the way out here?" a deep male voice asked. "What? I thought you would love the idea of a few people the most bird brain." another voice answered. "Bakugou be nice, last one in is as ugly as a shark!" yet another voice chimed in this times a girl's. The seahorse counted six splashes telling him there were at least six people in the water, as the shark was ticked about the ugly shark comment. "Eek! This water is so cold!" the same female voice squealed. "We're pretty far the shore so the water's gonna be cold Mina." a deeper female voice commented. "Plus if we move around we'll get warmer." Another splash was heard only much smaller than before. "We're here to swim not complain about the temperature." one of the male voices from earlier spoke. Another splash came as the first girl said: "Do not splash someone unless you're willing to go into a full on water war Bakugou." Laughing along with a few new voices and the old ones came from the opposite side from where the fish boys were hiding. "Bring it Pinky." And a wave of splashing and laughter began.

Midoryia was ready to go being smart, but Kirishima wanted a little revenge for the ugly shark comment and since a little prank wouldn't hurt anyone. He turned to the smaller boy as he put his finger over his lips. The greenette shook his head furiously already knowing what the shark was up to. The black head submerged his head and torso and swam to the other side, making sure his fin  tail were visible. When he saw teenage bodies swimming around he began to swim in a small circle. He waited patiently keeping his ears open as he swam, then he heard it. "G-guys!" a girl's voice squeaked. He began to slowly swim towards the slowing bodies. "SHARK!" one of the teenagers screamed. And just like that, they all jumped out of the water, all but one. Kirishima stopped, if he got any closer they would more than likely see his upper half, but that wasn't why he stopped. He just wanted to scare them a little for the comment, he had no intention of hurting anyone.

The body was grabbed and pulled out of the water. "Bakugou what is wrong with you!" the first deep voice yelled. The boat started moving again, and it made a circle around the... rock. Midoryia stayed hidden during Kirishima's little prank, so he didn't see the boat coming till he made eye contact with the driver. The boat driver was a taller male that had half red and white hair split down the middle, along with one grey and one blue eye. He was wearing a blue unbuttoned flannel showing his bare chest with aqua swim trucks. He was very handsome, so much so that the greenette was in a small daze. He would have been left staring if the boat didn't do a hard U-turn. The suddenness snapped the seahorse out of his trance making him dive under and swim home as fast as his curly tail would take him.

The sudden turn surprised the shark and he prayed they didn't see Midoryia. He wasn't the only one caught off guard though, one of the teens fell back into the sea awkwardly. Kirishima's kind nature kicked in before his head and he swam full speed towards the teen. The one that fell in was the same one that had to be pulled out of the water. Kirishima knew that instantly but still went to them. The teen was an ash blonde boy, who only wore a pair of black trunks. He had a good body and a better face, it was something Kirishima recognized but ignored. The blonde's eyes were shut tight and the black head used that to his advantage. He put his hands under the blonde's torso and pushed him to the surface. Feeling something cold the teen quickly swam to the surface. "WHAT THE FUCK YOU HALF'N'HALF BASTARD!" he screamed when his head emerged from the water.

The boat pulled next to him and he yelled profanities as he climbed out of the water. The boat drove away leaving Kirishima by himself. 'I wonder if you remember me.' the black head frowned at his thoughts, he turned and swam back home.

When he made it to the small sea cave he called home he was greeted by a very jittery greenette. "Ei-chan! One of them saw me!" Midoryia squealed. The smaller boy began to swim in circles mumbling fears and worries as he panicked. "Calm down Izuku," Kirishima said as he rose his hands and tried to soothe the other. When the smaller calmed down he apologized for leaving the black head behind and the shark chuckled saying it was okay.

On the island feelings about the meeting with the unknown about mermen were mixed. (AN: Try saying that five times fast) "So what your saying is the reason you turned the boat like that, throwing Bakugou into the ocean, into the water we saw a shark in not a minute before, was because you saw a cute mermaid," Jirou asked with a questioning look in her eyes. "No a cute merman." Todoroki corrected not helping his case in the slightest. After the group had returned to the island and tied up the boat, they went to a small ramen shop they liked to chill at. "Do you care in the slightest that you endangered Bakugou?" Tokoyami questioned the taller boy who was just slurping away at his soba. "Tokoyami, you know better than to question his gay dumbass." Mina chimed in. "Bakugou you never said why you froze when we saw that shark," Momo asked the still silent blonde.

Bakugou silently playing on his phone wall eating his ramen, when some unwanted attention joined in. "Bakugou Katsuki froze? Oh, do tell." Kaminari asked teasing, but he shut up when a sugar pack hit him. "I didn't fucking freeze, I was waiting to fight it!" Bakugou yelled at all of them. "Your ego knows no bounds Baku." sighed Mina. "Well on the bright side Bakugou isn't the only crazy person who says that he's seen a mermaid anymore." Tokoyami pointed out. "Wait, what?" Sero appeared behind Kaminari holding two bowls of ramen. "When we went ice swimming, when playing with hit water, a sharky and Bakugou tried to have a staring contest, so Tokoyami mama yeet him out of the sea, and before we left Todoroki saw a hidden, cute merman, so he turned the boat sonic fast hoping to see it again, but all he did was yote Bakugou back with sharky who disappeared making it super scary." Mina smiled proud of her explanation. Sero nodded before turning back to the group. "Okay someone besides Mina tell me and Denki what happened," Sero said.

After Momo gave them a better explanation the two that weren't there for the day's events laughed and went to another part of the shop to eat. "So now we have two delusional idiots in our group." the smallest girl in the group sighed. "Shut up ya earphone jack." growled the blonde. "And how do you know it was a merman icyhot." Todoroki surged at the question. "I can tell a guy from a girl and he had gills." the duo haired boy pointed at his neck. "Bakugou, how about you tell us your mermaid story again," Tokoyami asked with a small grin. "To compare notes."

"Fuck you Bird Brain!" shouted the blonde.
