Chapter Two: Which One is Hikaru?

You followed the 99.99% identical twins to the back table. The one with the half melancholic eyes held out the chair for you. You were confused. You rose an eyebrow at him. Was he trying to be a gentleman or something? You weren't a person for gender roles, especially when you don't want to be confined to gender pronouns yourself. You just snickered to yourself and walked around to the other side of the table, holding out a chair for them. Now the twins seemed extremely confused on what you were doing. Oh, how the tables have turned! Honestly the two were pretty cute. You could already tell you were going to have a great time.

"You guys don't have to be gentlemanly for me. You guys can relax all you want with me. I'm chill."

The one with eyes flickering with playful energy took the seat, grinning something reminiscent of a Cheshire Cat. You smiled for the first time in a while. You osuhed his chair in and held out the other one. The one with soft eyes walked over. He was really confused, it was written all over his face. He sat down and you pushed him in. You walked back around the round table and sat down in your own chair. You scooted yourself in and fixed the itchy uncomfortable death trap that was your school uniform dress. You didn't really have a plan for what you wanted to say or do. You just heard the word 'gay' and came here. Turns out you didn't have to take iniative. The twins had a routine planned. You decided to come along for the ride.

"I'm Hikaru"

Said the one with the eyes filled with mischief. So you were right, that made the other twin-

"And I'm Kaoru."

The two twins extanged a look. They both had smirks growing over their face. Now both of them had a cocky glint in their eye, yet they were still containing their own differences. They pulled out two identical hats you would think that they'd come straight out of a mystery book like Sherlock Holmes. Wait, no. That wasn't an open invitation to the Sherlock Fandom! Stand back you feral tumblr animals! Back I say! That's enough fourth wall breaking for this paragraph. You folded your hands in front of yourself and watched them place the hats over their bangs, hiding the fact that their hairstyles were different in any way. Oh dear, this game was also infamous. If you had to take a wild guess they would switch their position wround to confuse you and ask you which one is Hikaru. The fangirls would talk about it forever and ever.

The two boys stood up and switched themselves around, trying their best to make you lose focus. They were nimble and quick, but they weren't jumping over any candlestick. You didn't even need to watch. You could already tell them apart internally. Actually, just being here and meeting these two was amusing in itself. It felt amusing but being here. Probably because you would never expect to find yourself here in a million years, yet here you are because you heard one fangirl in class right before you left to leave say the word 'gay'. It's amazing what the LGBT+ agenda would do to somebody. Oh, here comes the moment we all were waiting for.

"Now, which one of us is Hikaru!"

The two twin brothers said in unison, onviouslt doubting your ability to tell the difference. You chuckled to yourself almost darkly and stood up. You felt pairs of eyes staying away from their hosts onto you. Oh? Did you catch people's attention? Or was it the fact you were playing this game? Who knew? Either way, you could already tell that the twins are going to lie if you are actually right without evidence. You stood in front of them and pretended not to act dumb. You tapped your finger on your chin and looked between them. It was so obvious. The one on the left was Hikaru. He was smiling slightly wider and his eyes were wild. Kaoru was the one on the right. He seemed more curious than anything. His eyes shone with wonder and hope. You pointed to the Hitachiin twin on the left.

"You're Hikaru. And don't even try lying to me. I know you're Hikaru."

Murmurs and whispers all around. The twins looked between eachother, dumbfounded. You took this as the opportunity to snatch off their little nineteenth century hats covered with checkered patterns. You didn't need to see their fringe to prove it, but you know you probably need to prove it so they don't lie to anyone about it. You're a competitive person, okay?! You like being right! Low and behold, their hair proved the fact that the twin on the left is Hikaru. Oohs and Awww came from the people who actually cared enough about the little game the two put on to watch. The twins were at a loss for words, which was a a direct contradiction to all the chatter you heard about them. You smirked. Tonight you are victorious, champagne pouring over us, all our friends are glorious, tonight we are victorious. You noticed both twins were about to mutter something under their breaths. This time Kaoru said the first part of their collective question. How they were so synchronized was beyond you.

"How did you"

"Do that?"

You just snickered again. You took the hats and placed them back on their heads, giving them the stereotypical anime head pat. This is a fanfiction based on an anime so that is only necessary. You simply booped them both on the nose and did some Disney level bullshit that drove everybody batshit crazy. 

"That's for me to know and you both to find out. Now, I believe I have about twenty more minutes of time with you two as my hosts. I'd prefer to sit down and just have a splendid little chat, wouldn't you?"

The two twins were completely flabbergasted. You looked around and saw that everyone was watching in the host club now. You recognized a few faces as a bunch of assholes who kept telling you that no gender wasn't valid. Fuck them. You walked back to the table. The two boys fumbled to get the chair for you. You decided to just let them do their thing. You sat down and they pushed you in. The two boys simotaneously sat down in their chairs and scooted in. Chatter and white noise began filling the club room again. You folded your hands again and rested your chin on them. Heh. Chin. Hitachiin. Your own puns knock you out. This time you decided to take iniative and start a conversation. After you fiddled with the fuckery that was your skirt. That's a given.

"So, I'm curious. You two became awfully quiet after I showed you both up with your little game. Aren't you both the little devil types?"

Hikaru gained a wicked grin and Kaoru just smiled warmly and sweetly. To be honest you would rather watch Kaoru. He seemed to be hiding something feigning sadness or loneliness. You really wanted to know what that was. Hikaru obviously sold the little devil, but Kaoru wasn't exactly feeling it. At least on the inside. That much you could tell.

"Yes Ma'am we are."

Oh. There's our first problem. Ma'am. Freaking feminine titles. You hate them. Your scowl must have been pretty damn apparent because Kaoru's smile fell while Hikaru just rose an eyebrow. The twins looked at eachother, obviously curious to what was wrong. Well, Kaoru looked more concerned while Hikaru looked more curious. You sat back up straight, not leaning over and having your chin rest in your hands anymore. You watched as the twins both looked back at you, asking without words the question we all know and love: 'something wrong?' Youw coffed and answered truthfully, trying not to let the venom slip into your voice. They didn't know after all. No reason to be spiteful towards them.

"They. I'm Gender Nuetral. They/Them pronouns."

It wasn't obvious Hikaru was about to make a snarky remark like all the intolerant people. You were prepared to defend yourself. Whelp, looks like you were wrong about having fun today. But it also looks like younwere wrong about being wrong about not having any fun today. Before Hikaru could say anything Kaoru slapped his hand right over his twin's mouth and gave him an annoyed glare. Hikaru sighed, giving up. Kaoru took his hand back and smiled cutely at you. Yep, you were right in being more invest in Kaoru. You officially love him. #KaoruIsBestHost. 

"Of course! Sorry for using the wrong terminology."
