27. Decisions And Choices

"What can change in a year?"

"Everything!"

"Even the people you love?"

"Mostly the people we love."

When life becomes too suffocating and nerve wrecking, we all need an escape, something that can only be offered by only a limited people so suited to the situation that rose such a havoc in your mind. And that's completely okay. After all you can't find solace in the same person for every state of your mind. Right now, the state that Nandini was in, could only be calmed by certain people-her siblings; Abhimanyu and Navya; Yes, Navya too because she was more than a sister to her and in every sense, her soul sister for life and beyond while Abhimanyu, being her only family.

"Nandini!"

Her brother called out to her anxiously, extremely bothered about her health. She stopped but didn't turn, too afraid of showing her emotions that could only skyrocket her brother's worries. Abhi sighed and wrapped his arms around her shoulder, hugging her from behind, resting his head on hers, protecting her from every evil eye.

Abhi: My doll doesn't need to hide her tears from me.

Nandini held his arms and buried her head in them as her body finally convulsed letting out the painful sobs as her brother held her tightly, letting his own tears fall free.

Abhi: We're in this together Nandu, always. I'm never leaving your side, ever. I love you bachcha.

She finally turned and hugged him tightly, burying her head in his chest. Navya wiped her tears and walked closer to them.

Navya: Mujhe toh sab bhool hee gaye, hmm.

With this being said and not even completed, she was immediately pulled into the group hug. She smiled and cocooned herself in their warmth. While the siblings were having their hug-me-and-make-me-happy session, Kritika stood aloof in a corner, watching them with teary eyes. In the process of coveting her love, she lost her only family and heaven knows how empty her heart felt right now.

"Nandini!"

Finally gathering some courage, she walked to them and called out, collecting their attention at once. The trio looked at her with such a strangeness in their eyes that stabbed her heart.

Kritika: You remember that day when you caught us Nandini? When you tried to explain where I went wrong, I could only think that what was my fault if I fell in love with a guy, who loved me back and was apparently my sister's fiance. And after saying all that shit to you, when I couldn't meet di's, Bhai's(Abhimanyu) and your eyes, I realised what my fault actually was and I'm by all means extremely guilty about it. Please forgive me and take me back. I.. I don't want to feel alone and abandoned once more, please.

Navya and Nandini's hearts broke for their little sister and they realised that it was almost difficult to stay mad at her for she was a part of their little family. Their fam-jam would always be incomplete without her. Navya walked towards her with the moisture that once again returned in her eyes.

Navya: Ek baar... Bas ek baar keh diya hota tumne.

Kritika sobbed lowering her head in guilt.

Kritika: Mai darr gayi thi di. I... I didn't know what to do and how to tell you. Mai aapko hurt nahi karna chahti thi.

Navya lifted her chin, making her face herself.

Navya: Aur ab mai bohot khush hoon?

Kritika sobbed harder, shaking her head in denial but then hugged Navya tightly. Say whatever you want, at the end of the day, Navya and Kritika were siblings and the only family of each other. Sure Nandini and Abhimanyu were there too, but the bonding that the two sisters had was special in its own way.
