sometimes
it first grips the tips of my toes
swallowing them in its vicious grip
winding up my feet
taking captive my every cellit travels up my legs
seizing all possible ways of movement as it goesits next captive is my hips
as it takes more territory still
until it meets my stomach
sending waves of queasinessit finally reaches my chest
it's unrelenting fury never ceasing
as it pounds all of its strength into my lungs
this breath that once was mine
is taken in its gripit does not stop however
one final destination in its mind
surging towards my brain with strengthit annihilates the fringes of my brain
no longer asking for permission
sending me spiraling into madnessthis body you call mine
is no long mine when i am taken captiveor sometimes
it waits to make its appearance
and my hope that it will not arrive
is utterly destroyed when
it crashes over me like waves upon a beachthis body you call mine
is no longer mine when i am taken captive
