Chapter 9

"Can you lift your arm a bit" he asks

I lift my arm as much as I could but it hurt like hell.

"I can't. It hurts" I said

"Here. Take a seat and I'll try my best to clean it" Jay said

I sat down still applying pressure and just watched him and helped him the most I can.

Matt comes back with Will and supplies to stitch me back up. Will takes a look at the wound and stitches me back up right after. It hurt like hell.

"So everything should be good. Everything is normal. Just come back in 3 weeks to get the stitches out" Will said

"Thanks bro. Really appreciate it" said Jay

Will leaves the room and I pack up all of the necessities and head out with Matt and Jay.

"Gabbie and I prepped your room at home. Even though there isn't much needed to be done we just cleaned up a bit" said Matt

"That sounds great" I said

"Mind if I hang a little before my shift?" Jay asked

"It's up to Val" Matt said giving me an assuring look

"Uh...sure I guess" I said before putting my bag into Matt's truck

"We'll meet you back at my place then" Matt said to Jay

We both got into the truck while Jay follows close behind.

Jay's POV
I followed close behind Matt and Val as we head back to Matt's place.  Once pulling into the driveway I see Severide's car  parked also. Really tryna get some alone time with Val but that doesn't seem like it's gonna happen.

I parked my car and got out and made my way over to Matt's truck to help Val out. I help her inside while Matt grabs the things. Matt unlocks the door and by surprise there stood Severide with a bouquet of flowers in his hands.

"Kelly!!! Oh my god what a surprise!" Val said leaving my grip and heading over to Kelly embracing him in a hug

"These are for you" Kelly said handing them to her

"Roses. My favorite!" Val said

"Hello to you too" I said

"Hey Jay. Hey Matt" said Kelly

"Something smells really good in here" said Val

"I made you your favorite. My homemade clam chowder" Kelly said

"Yes! I'm gonna go put my things away first then I'll have some. Thanks Kelly. You're the best!" Val said before heading into her room

"Wow it's like you two are a married couple" I chuckled

"Hey man I'm just looking out for her. No big deal" said Kelly

"No fighting please" Matt said

Kelly and I just looked at each other and shrugged it off. But you know us both, we won't let that go easily. I follow behind Val into her room.

"You need help with anything?" I asked

"I'm good. Thanks" Val said putting her things away

"So, have you thought about who you want your partner to be?"

"No I haven't. I barely even started my shift until all this happened. And remember I'm only the intern"

"Well yeah but don't you wanna be part of intelligence? Like get out there and get into the action?"

"I don't know. Why are you asking me all this?"

"Just trying to make conversation"

"Hey is Jay bothering you?" Kelly asked at the door way

"Dude, give us some space" I said

"How about both of you just leave me alone" Val said

I got up from her bed and made my way out the room. I follow Kelly into the living room.

"Just a warning Kelly, don't burst my bubble" I said looking straight at him

"Same goes to you" says Kelly

"Hey Kelly, Boden wants us in early" Matt said coming out of his room

"Who's gonna be here with Val?" Kelly asks

"The only other person here, Jay" said Matt

"See ya later" I said making myself comfortable on the couch

"Don't try anything stupid Jay" said Matt

I winked at him and both Matt and Kelly left .
