Same, but Different

•Chapter IV•

I put bacon on his plate, as well as Aki's and Titan's. "I think it means overprotective."

Titan hummed. "Yeah, that."

Aki fed Levi with her left hand and herself with her right as Levi started messaging people, placing his Bluetooth in his ear, and getting his briefcase together.

I put a travel mug in front of him. "I'm assuming you didn't sleep much. Coffee."

"Thank you," Levi said softly, grabbing it.

"I'm an awesome maid, what can I say?" I joked, giving Titan his apple juice and Aki some apple tea. I wasn't sure if she wanted the same thing in the mornings, but it was the best I could do. "So, what time are people getting back? When do you like having dinner?"

"We get back at around four o'clock," Aki replied. "Papa gets back at six thirty, so we usually eat dinner at seven."

I nodded. "Anybody want anything in particular? I'm looking for work placements today in the newspaper, so I can just go out and get things today."

"Grilled cheese!" Aki exclaimed.

Levi just scoffed.

"We can have that as a side," I laughed.

"Yay!" Aki exclaimed.

"Can we have garlic bread?" Tobias asked, "It's yummy."

I was slightly taken back at how calm he was when he asked. "Uh, yeah, sure."

"Garlic bread is good," Aki agreed. "Farlan is going to take us to school and watch us when we get back after meeting Mr. Eren."

"Am I meeting him today then?" I asked.

"Yeah. Sorry. It slipped my mind," Levi apologized.

I shook my head, "You probably told me and I forgot."

Aki and Levi finished eating and the doorbell rang.

I got up, knowing I'd have time to eat later, and answered the door. "So, I'm guessing you're Farlan?" I said awkwardly, extending a hand. "Nice to meet you."

He grasped my hand. "Hi. You must be Eren."

I nodded. "So, how'd you meet Levi? Was it one of those 'see an ad in a paper' things?"

"We're friends. I'm also Isabel's husband." He chuckled.

I smiled. "She's Aki and Titan's teacher, right?"

"Yeah. She's great."

"I'm happy you found someone so great," I replied, leading him towards the kitchen. "Uh, Levi and the kids are through this way."

Farlan took his shoes off before walking in. "Hey, Levi."

"Hi, Farlan." Levi waved, Aki folding his light blue handkerchief and sticking it in his breast pocket (it matched his eye).

"Titan, this is Farlan." I introduced him to my son. "He's gonna take you to preschool and look after you when me and Levi aren't here. Sound good?"

He hummed. "Aki says Mr. Farlan is nice."

"I'm glad you speak so highly of me, Aki," Farlan teased.

Aki waved him off. "Whatever. Let's go to school." She kissed both of Levi's cheeks and pressed her forehead to his. Levi kissed her forehead and then both of her cheeks.

"Je t'aime," Levi whispered.

"Je t'aime aussi." She hugged him and gave him a butterfly kiss before hopping off the chair and going to where Farlan was.
