The regional differences in American Magical practice can be traced back to the ancestry of any given area. In New England, Witches tend to focus on either Black or White Magic, ignoring Green almost entirely. For example, the famous trials at Salem Town, Massachusetts, were the result of a massive power struggle between White and Black factions. Unfortunately, those who were executed were actually Nons who found themselves caught in the Magical crossfire. Events such as the Salem tragedy have led to the formation of laws to govern Witches, keeping Nons strictly out of all Magical proceedings.  As there is no formal governing body for Witches, it is up to each individual Witch to monitor her own behavior.
