After having just woken up from a nightmare, I bolted upright in a cold sweat. My breathing was unnaturally fast and I could feel my entire body shaking. My head turned from side to side and my eyes darted around the room, but it was too dark to actually see anything. I reached to my side with shaky hands and felt around a bit for the lamp, turning it on when my fingertips brushed against it.

Once the room was illuminated by the warm light, I looked around again, feeling slightly calmer now that I could actually see my environment. It was very familiar, as it should be considering it was my room. Nothing had changed since I fell asleep, but it was deathly quiet. Apart from my loud breathing and the deafening pounding of my heartbeat in my ears.

I took a deep breath and hugged myself, trying to calm myself down enough to think straight and hopefully go back to sleep. Eventually I had calmed down enough for my breathing to become more regular and I laid my head back down on my pillow. I knew it would be best to try and get some more sleep, but for the moment I just stared at the ceiling, afraid that if I closed my eyes I would return to the horrible world of my nightmare.

Once I was sure I had stayed awake long enough for the memory to be considered distant enough, I slowly shut my eyes. I tossed and turned for god knows how long trying to fall asleep again, but I was just as awake now as I was when I woke so suddenly before.

I sighed and sat back up. It was clear that there was no chance of me falling asleep. Not on my own, at least. I threw my blankets off and hung my legs over the side of the bed, contemplating whether or not it would be right to bother someone else's sleep just because I had a nightmare. I'm not a little kid anymore, so it would be silly of me to go crying to someone about it. But at the same time, I really didn't want to be alone right now.

After thinking about it again for a few moments, I decided to go ahead with my original plan and stood from my bed. The floor was cold beneath my feet, making me shiver. I grabbed one of my blankets and wrapped it around my body, relishing in the warmth it provided before I made my way out of my room.

It was even colder out in the hallway than it was in my room. I tightened my grip on the blanket, hoping it would give me some extra heat as I slowly trudged along. I knew exactly where I was going, but whether or not I would be welcome there at such a late hour is another question. It didn't go entirely smoothly last time, after all.

Once I arrived at my destination, I slowed to a stop in front of the door and nervously raised my fist, knocking three times before lowering it again and waiting for a response. I waited for roughly a minute with no answer. Figuring the person of interest must've been asleep, I was about to move on and try someone else when the door opened. There stood Ja'far, dressed in his pyjamas but still wide awake. "__y/n__? What's wrong?" He asked upon noticing how distressed I must seem.

I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, a little embarrassed to admit what was troubling me now that someone had actually asked. "Um... I know this is going to make me sound like a little kid, but... I had a nightmare..." I covered the lower half of my face with the blanket and averted my gaze, my words now coming out muffled because of the fabric. "Could I stay with you tonight? Please?"

"You want to stay... here?" Now it was Ja'far's turn to look away. He seemed unusually uncomfortable with my request to spend the night with him, even more so than last time. "I don't think that would be a good idea..."

"Are you afraid someone will see us together and bother you again?"

Ja'far shook his head and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "No, it's not that, I just... had a certain dream, so I don't think it would be appropriate to spend the night together."
