ASH'S POV
If you are reading this, it only means one thing; the ocean is calling you.
Hi! I'm Ash, and this is how I found my destiny in life.
I live in a beautiful island in the Philippines, called Cebu. Every morning and sunsets since I can remember, I would always visit the sea.
Maybe it is because of white sand beach, or the wondrous rock formations, or the clear blue and pristine waters, or the coral reefs underneath that draw me to it; all I know is that I adore the sea.
I don't know why but there is just something magical about the sea that makes me feel safe, calm and at peace- free from the troubles of the world.
But now my haven is slowly changing.
The once white sand beaches are now filled with kilometers of waste.
The once pristine waters are now murky and filled with floating trash.
The coral reefs which were once home to the fishes is now barren and uninhabited.
It is not a problem if only the trash that arrives the shore of my land are leaves, branches or trunks of big trees because it will just decompose and become part of nature again, but the ones that get stranded on my land are plastics- kilometers and kilometers of plastics, plastics that do not decompose forever.
Every day, garbages from all around the world get washed up on the shores of my land. Ever since then, deaths of aquatic animals increased. From small fishes, to turtles, dolphins, sharks, whales and even birds die due to suffocation and intake of these non- biodegradable plastics.
The problem caused by plastic to us is getting worst.
The problem caused by plastic is causing us a lot of burden more than its initial reason to help us. Slowly and slowly our world is generating country-sized patches of garbage floating in our oceans that will never decay. No one else is to be blame except for us. We caused our ocean to die slowly along with the lives depending on it. It will not be long until us- humans will suffer from what we made.
Soon the oceans will be filled with plastic garbage floating for eternity.
Soon there will be no more fishes to catch.
Soon all aquatic animals will die.
Soon the ocean will be poisoned and there is nothing we can do about it.
There is still time now. We can still save our oceans by lessening our use of plastic and eventually eradicating it.
HELP save our OCEANS.
The only solution is US.
WE started it, WE should end it.
If you are reading this, it only means one thing-The Ocean is calling you.
Save our oceans, save our planet, choose our PLANET.
