The mail came and in it was a letter addressed to me. It said,
Chief Nagy,
I have no doubt in my mind that I have found the man whom you have been looking for. I have found Bela Kiss. He is a soldier in The French Foreign Legion. He goes by the name of Hoffman and he is here in Yugoslavia. I didn't believe it myself until I saw how skilled he was at garrote. That convinced me and I was absolutely sure it was him. Please hurry, there is not a moment to lose.
The signature on the letter was scribbled so fast and so badly, I couldn't recognize it. I did know one thing though, Hoffman was one of the aliases Kiss used in his letters to the women he wrote to. No one would know that other than me. I grabbed my coat. I was on my way to Yugoslavia.
