The year 1773 winter is being brutal as ever I stand outside with my night gown on letting the cold air cover me. "Everett what are you doing darling" my mother sleeks in a soft voice.
"Just standing out here"
"Come In come inside it's getting worse out here"
I turned my back to the backyard and walked behind my mother I shit the door behind me. My father walks through the door and straight up the stairs to bed. "He's been having a bad week at work" "why what happened" I asked in curiosity "Great Britain is putting idiotic taxes on us remember the Townshend Act" "ya I remember" I'm this family we never talk about that tax it but such a strain on us.

My older brother and sister who are twins walk in the door. "How's Everett" my brother asks me "I'm doing grand" I smile "I'll see you all in the morning". I step and turn and make my way up the stairs that morning I get up and put my Sunday dress on to go to town in. I make it to the town it was buzzing with chatting and laughing "Excuse me" I look up and I man about 6in taller than me fell on me
"I'm sorry ma'am"
"it's fine"
"I'm John, John Laurens"
"I'm Everett, Everett Archer"
"oh a rich girl, what's someone like you doing in the town"
"Just some shopping"
"Well could I at least pay for something to pay for bumping into you"
"I'll give you friendship I'll see you around John"

"Mother I'm home"
"Did you get what I asked for"
"Yes ma'am"
"Did you see anyone"
"Yes I met a man about two years older than me"
"Oh his name"
"John Laurens"
"That name rings a bell"
"What do you mean"
"I think I've heard of him I think he works with your father"
"Possibly"
How would John work for my father my fathers a clothing maker who runs the biggest plantation in New York.
