Sapphire's P.O.V

My anger had reached a boiling point. It was all because of none other than Blake Dazer. Oh, how he made me want to punch a wall or even kick someone. It didn't help that this was the first day of my senior year...

"Sapphire!" A voice bellowed from behind me. It wasn't but seconds later I was engulfed in a bone crushing hug by none other than Carmen Roberts, my other best friend. She inhaled deeply before letting me go. "What the hell took you so long?" I gave her a quizzical look. "Sorry, I've just been waiting for you for like ... Forever. Anyways ... I haven't seen you in forever ... How's life?" Carmen asked me.

"Carmen you were with me at Blake's house yesterday, it's not like we haven't seen each other in months." I spat.

She raised an eyebrow at me. "You did not just snap at me!" She shrieked in fake shock.

I ignored her walked up to Coach Woods, who was telling everyone the name of their first class teacher.

"Why, hello Sapphire." Coach said with a smile.

"Hey, Coach." I smiled.

"Hi, Coach!" Carmen piped in behind me.

Coach smiled and waved at her before he turned back to me. "Are you planning on trying out for the track team this year?" He asked me as his eyes scanned the paper before him for my name.

"Ummm, maybe, I'm not sure," I admitted.

"She should, shouldn't she?" Carmen gushed.

I felt as if I wanted to push her away, but instead I smiled at Coach. "But I'm not sure," I emphasized then glared at Carmen.

She pouted a little.

A loud exhale escaped his lips. "I hope you do kiddo, last year I wouldn't have made it and won the championships without you." I grinned and waited for him to tell me my first-period teacher's name. "Well, it looks like you have Mrs. Lockhart for your first class."

"Thanks." I exclaimed and began to walk away.

"Sapphire." Coach called out to me. I spun around and faced him. "I will be harassing you to join the team until you give in."

Carmen waved her hands in the air, "Yay!"

I chuckled and then promised to join knowing he wouldn't let me say no in the end.

"Okay, my class is that way. See ya!" She turned and left me to walk to my class by myself.

As I began to walk down the halls, everyone was looking at me. I was wondering why, but then I started to hear their whispers.

"She must have broken up with Blake."

"Blake is not beside her, did he die?"

"Does this mean he is single?"

The whispers didn't stop there, I just chose to not listen anymore as I thought of how people must really think Blake and I never leave each other's sides.

"Yo, where is Blake?" My, fraternal, twin brother Linx asked as he came up to me.

"Leave me alone." I bitterly told him.

He gave me a confused expression that really ticked me off at how innocent he acted. "Usually I have to tell you that." He crossed his arms.

"You ... and Blake. I know what you two did with the borrowing of my car and trying to get me not to go out with William."

Linx started to look less innocent and more disturbed as he uncrossed his arms. "Blake told you, didn't he?" He asked me.

"I have a brain and I know you two like the back of my hand ... Oh, and you can forget about borrowing my car tonight." I told him.

"What?! No! I need the car. Even, if admittedly at first, it was a plot to not allow you to go on a date with that slimy bastard you call, William... I need it!" Linx pleaded.

My head shook at his words. "I don't care! You should have thought about that before you went all evil-planning with Blake."

"Sis, we are doing it to protect you. You have no idea how crappy these guys are and what they want," Linx said.

"I know how guys are because I hang with Blake and you all the time ... as for what guys want ... you really think I'm that easy?" I proclaimed.

Linx rolled his eyes at me. "Sapphire, I need the car for work, you know mom is barely making rent with her job. Please, let me take the car! If it makes things better, I will talk it out with Blake and get him to take you tonight." Linx stated.

"I was born at night, but not last night. If you get Blake to take me tonight, he will drive around town all night before he would even consider taking me to the date. Either that or he'll fake some car problem."

"Yes, he might, but I need the car, please sis." Linx gave me a begging look.

"Whatever, borrow my car, but I'm telling you what I told Blake, no matter what I'm going on that date."

"Fine do whatever you want, but if William touches you in any way, I will kick his ass."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," I muttered before walking away.
