"This is Dalphino, Delphi. He's only a year older than you are," my father said. "As the humans would say, he's a thought nut to crack."
"Hello. My name is Delphi. I'm your betrothed-"
"Yeah, whatever. Dad, can I go play with Jamie?" I asked. I do not want to hang around this mer. He gives off a weird vibe to me.
"Sure, sea shark. Don't go beyond the seaweed." At my father's approval, I quickly swam to the servants quarters.
"Jamie! Jamie, where are you?" I swam quickly down the corridor not paying attention to the servants who were bowing to me in respect. "Stop hiding, Jamie." I stopped shooting down the hallway. "Or I could just tell Ureia about your feelings towards her."
"For a sea god's son, you're evil." My black tailed best friend came from behind an old shelf.
"You love me anyway. You got your shell phone?" I asked. His parents call all the time, making sure that he was still alive.
"It's right here. Let's go." We swam out of the palace and went to an old shipwreck that became our hangout spot. When we got settled, Jamie asked, "What happened? You're being more annoying than usual."
I rolled my eyes are the statement. "I'm only 7 ocean years old (which is equivalent to 14 land years) and I'm already betrothed to someone I can already tell that I will not like."
"Okay, human. Maybe give it a while. You might end up liking him. If you're lucky, it might be love."
I hit Jamie in the chest. "I'm not the one who has a human name." I stuck my tongue our at him.
"Child."

I was in my room in my human form when I heard a knock at the door.
"Yeah?" I called out. I do not want to get up.
"It's Delphi." This mer again. I told him time and time again that I don't want to look at him unless I absolutely have to.
Lately, I felt like I'm drawn to him. It's weird. Just last night, I was daydreaming about Delphi and I going on a date in the abandoned wing of the palace that no one goes the anymore.
"Go away. I don't want to talk to you, mer." I change back into my mer form just in case he finds the hidden key in the seaweed pot outside my bedroom.
"Your Highness, your mother wants to speak to you." I swam to the door. "Unlock the door. She says it's terribly urgent."
I open the door and come face-to-face with Delphi. My heart speeds up when I see his smile. It draws me in. I feel like a fish on a hook. Delphi.
"My little sea urchin," my mom says swimming up to me. "We need to get you ready for your engagement party." She started playing with my cerulean blue hair.
"That's not until next month. But my birthday is in two weeks. We need to do something about that." I looked at the red haired mer in front of me. "Do you want to help?"
"Yes! I-I mean, s-sure." He cleared his throat. "I could help."
I gave the flustered mer a smile. "Thanks, Deli. We should hang out sometime. Maybe tomorrow?"
"I would love to!" I let out a loud laugh. "I-I'm sorry. I-it won't happen again."
"You're cute," I said winking at Delphi. "Meet me in the garden tomorrow evening." I grabbed my mom's hand and swam towards the dining room.

"Dali." I looked up at my clumsy mer. "Did you love someone before me?"
"No, Deli. To everyone in the kingdom, I've been the cold mer who would never find love in his immortal life." I lay back on my bed.
"I did not know that. I always admired you. I think I loved you before I was supposed to."
I let out a light chuckle. "That's Aphrodite for you," I said.
"Has anyone told you that you act just like a human teenager?" Deli asked with a brow raised.
"All the time. It gets annoying. I know I act like a human. It's actually Dad's fault. He would take me into the human world to hangout with his human friend who saved him when he was younger. His human friend had a teenage son that I was forced to hangout with which caused me start talking and acting like him. On top of that, outside Oceania, I'm 14."
"You talk a lot for a young mer-"
"Hey! You're a young mer too!" I exclaimed. Hypocrite.
Deli laughs so hard, he almost fell off the bed. "Oh my-" My young fiance was cut off by falling the bed and landing right onto the pointy sea shell I found too long ago.
This time I laughed hard. "Clumsy mer!" I said trying not yo fall off the bed and hit my head on the bedside table.
"Dali! Wanna play?"
My laughter was cut short when I was attacked by a large red streak. I grunted upon impact.
"Gotcha!" Deli said acting like a young child.
We laughed together. This is the most fun I've ever had.
When our laughter died down, Deli and I stared at each other. I slowly leaned in and locked our lips.
This is heaven. Our tongues wrapped around each other pulling us deeper into the abyss of pleasure.
We were interrupted by a knock on my door. "Your Highness, is Delphi in your room?" I heard a servant ask.
Deli and I swam to the door and opened it. "He's right here," I said with a smile on my face. This surprised the servant.
"Bye, Dali. See you tomorrow." His comment caused my smile to falter.
"Yeah, sure." I give my fiance a sad smile. "Goodbye, Delphi."

"Dad, can I have one last request before you erase my memories?" I asked Dad.
"Of course, my little sea shark. Anything for my son." I gave my dad a sad smile.
"Can you please leave everything Delphi taught me? I might not know where I got them from but it'll be there." Dad nodded and put two fingers on my forehead. "One more thing. Can you leave the possibility of Delphi bringing memories back in anyway he chooses? I-I love him."
My dad looks in my eyes to find a trace of a lie. When he didn't find any, he pulled me a tight hug. "Of course, my little sea shark. Anything for my son."
