The sunset was beautiful. The orange, pink, and purple was one of the most beautiful sights I've seen today. The ocean was shimmering brightly, giving me the perfect scene for a romantic date.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" I look to the right and found that red haired man from this morning sitting down beside me.
"Yes, it is." I gave him a smile before I looked back at the ocean. "It reminds me of the mystical creatures that could live in the ocean, or Oceania, as my dad calls it. At this time of day, every creature, mystical or real, would come out to play with each other."
As I was talking, I felt the man's eyes burning a hole through my head. I just rambled on, forgetting that an extremely hot man was sitting right beside me.
"You have a beautiful voice," the man said. I had a comeback just in case he said something offensive about my rambling.
"No, you're an arm pit face!" I exclaimed. Shaking my head, I give him an apologetic smile. "Sorry, what did you say? I was kind of locked in my comeback." It's a habit.
"Let me guess. It's a habit. So it's normal for your friends," the man assumed. Figures.
"What friends? My best friend is the newest professor at my university." Jamie has always been there for me. He always made time for me.
The man sucks in a breath. "You, my friend, are lonely." He gives me a breathtaking smile. "The name's Delphi."
"Bruce," I say in a daze. If you saw what was in front of me, you would've been in a daze too.
Delphi let's out a chuckle. "I know. I was told." He entrances me, making me stare. If Mom was here, she would've scolded me for staring at the most handsome man anyone can come across in their life.
I mentally shook my head. "Yeah... Sorry. I'm kinda stuck in a daze."
"Yeah, I'm just like that. Back at home, even the prince couldn't keep his eyes off of me. He was 7 and I was 8!" Delphi let's out a sad chuckled. "He's gone now. It was for his own good."
"You must of loved him?" I asked carefully. Age is just a number. It doesn't matter how old you are, because you can always love.
"Indeed. Where I'm from, the minimum age you could be to fall in love is the age of 5." Delphi looked at the evening sky. "We don't fully understand what it is, but we believe it's our love goddess, Aphrodite."
We always played together. He didn't like me at first. In fact, he basically hated me." He chuckled. "But in time. We ended up loving each other. Our first kiss was the day before he left."
I looked for him the next day and found him and his family gone with a note on his bed."
"Do you remember what it said?" I asked. I waited for an answer. When I didn't get one, I reached for his hand.
"I didn't think that we would fall in love. Especially with our first impression. I guess it's true what the humans say. Don't judge a book by it's cover. I expected myself to hate you forever since, well, your parents were blessed with immortality and mine were gods."
You taught me many things even if you were only a 8 year old. I promise you that I will use everything you taught me in the human world. You've been a wonderful addition to my life and I really wished that my parents listened to my protests."
Know one thing, Deli. I love you and wished I stayed to spend our immortal life together. Maybe we'll meet again later in life. Love, Dali.
"His real name was Dalphino." One stray tear trailed down Delphi's cheek as he talked about his lost love.
I stared at Delphi for awhile. "Do I remind you of Dalphino?" I asked. I wanted to know more about this Prince Dalphino.
Delphi nodded. "You look just like him. And please don't ask about the human and immortal thing. I do not feel like explaining."
"Well-"
"Bruce!" I looked towards the vacation house my parents rented. Sure enough, my parents were trying to run towards me.
"Hey, Mom and Dad!" I said. When they got closer I introduced them to Delphi. What happened next would forever be imprinted in my mind.
Delphi got on one knee, crossed his arms in an X position on his chest and said, "Your Majesty. It's great to see you again after all these years."
"It's nice to see you again, too, Delphi. No need for formalities. How are your parents?" My dad said as Delphi got up.
"My parents are doing fine. The kingdom is doing well. It's like Dad was born to run a kingdom," Delphi said with a bright smile.
"Well, Delphi, when you go back to the kingdom, tell Kiron and Kameria I said hello and that I will be home soon."
I was confused. Kingdom? Majesty? What is going on?
"Wait, wait," I said, interrupting their confusing conversation. "What are you guys talking about?"
"I thought you would've been told already. Your Majesty, how long were you going keep this from Dalp- Bruce, I mean."
"Dad, what is Deli talking about?" It took me awhile but when I realized what I said, my eyes widened. "Delphi. I mean Delphi."
"Well, Bruce-"
"Your Majesty, I was supposed to be betrothed to him. Let me tell him, or show him," Delphi persuaded my dad. Dad nodded his head before grabbing Mom's hand.
"Take care of my little sea urchin. Don't hurt him," Mom said with quavering lips.
"I will, Your Grace." Delphi looked at me. "I will." He held out a hand. "Want to go skinny dipping?" He asked.
Skinny dipping with a hot guy in the ocean? Hell yeah!
I nodded before I started to take off my swimming trunks. When we made it to the ocean, I asked, "What is going on?"
"This." Delphi leaned in, slowly placing his soft and tender lips on my own.
That's when everything hit me all at once.
