As We Part

This is Zeblen Ajoni (A-jon-ee) Allen. He's actually my brother in real life (not my actual brother but I look up to him as one)

Time went by as if Ciera and Ahmad never knew each other. If they each walked out at the same time, they didn't even look at each other. Whatever history they had, didn't matter.

Kayla would pick up Ahmad in the afternoon so they could hang out with each other and Ciera would go to the new job she started with her mom.

One day, Kayla sat in the parking lot, waiting on Ahmad as Ciera was heading out to work. She unlocking her car when she heard Kayla laughing.

"Something funny?" Ciera questions, looking at her.

"Just seeing how you gotta drive your parents car," Kayla replies, cackling. Ciera smirked,

"Oh this?" She taps the hood, "Is mine. Didn't think it would be?"

Kayla's mouth drops as she couldn't help but feel jealous of Ciera's white BMW that put her grey Jeep to shame.

"When'd you get that?"

"It was a late birthday present."

Ahmad comes out the house, going straight to Kayla's car as if Ciera didn't exist. Kayla kisses him, eyeing Ciera who only smirked,

"Baby girl, if you're trying to make me jealous, it won't work!" She calls, getting into her car. Ahmad, for the first time, looks at her. He admired her BMW on the low. "I've done more than just simple kisses with that boy!"

Kayla's eyes widen as Ahmad curses.

"Ciera, shut up and gon somewhere!" Ahmad snaps. Ciera shrugs, revving her engine and pulling out her driveway.

"What the fuck is she talking about?" Kayla questions, turning to Ahmad.

"Nothing, bae, she's jus trynna fuck wit you." Kayla only stares at him. "Baby, would I ever lie to you?"

Kayla sighs, shaking her head. She pecks him on the lips again before pulling out his driveway.

Ciera makes it to work, sitting at the desk next to her mom's. She was the Mayor's secretary while her mom was the Mayor's Deputy. They went on Press Events, worked with the people in Richmond, and did so many things to help out the community.

Ciera worked long hours throughout the week but short hours on the weekend. Since it was Sunday, Ciera only worked from 3PM to 9PM. She sat at her desk, her curly hair sat up in a bun while she typed an email response to a group that wanted the Mayor to help their neighborhood.

"Adams!" Mayor Levar Stoney calls. Ciera gets up, walking into his office.

"Yes Mayor Stoney?"

"You're doing really good," he compliments, "I see why your mom suggested you for this job."

Ciera smiled, proud of what she's accomplished the few weeks she's worked.

"Thank you so much, I really appreciate it."

"If you want to, I was thinking of giving you this job after summer break. What do you think?"

Ciera couldn't help but squeal,

"That's would be great! Oh my gosh, thank you so much! This means so much!"

Mayor Stoney winked, telling her to keep up the good work.

Ciera walks into her mom's office next and tells her the news. She smiles,

"I knew you could do it! Your hours would be 3-9 but it still something."

Ciera's mom decided to take Ciera out to lunch to celebrate her full-time position. They ate at a nice restaurant in Downtown, Richmond.

"So, I haven't seen you and Aj hang out in a while," Her mother says, looking over the menu, "What's been going on?"

Ciera hadn't told her mom about the fight she and Ahmad had had.

"He's just a douche and I'm done talking to him," Ciera says, trying her hardest not to get upset.

"What happened?"

"Nothing ma, I don't wanna talk about it."

Ciera's mom puts her menu down, looking at her.

"Ciera Ja'nae, is there something I don't know?"

After getting served their waters, Ciera sighs,

"He stopped talking to me because of his new girlfriend."

Ciera's mother's eyes widen.

"Because of a girlfriend? But why?"

"I don't know. One minute we're cool and the next he's acting like I don't exist. We got into a really bad fight almost a month ago and he said some really hurtful things. After that, I just stopped talking to him."

Ciera didn't know it, but she was crying again. She didn't like ignoring Ahmad everyday and acting like they were never best friends. He was constantly on her mind and she couldn't help but feel sad.

"Oh baby," Ciera's mother goes over and hugs her, "I'm so sorry. Why didn't you tell me?"

"I just didn't like talking about," Ciera sniffs,  "The only person I really talked to about it was Zeb and that's because he saw me crying. It was such a terrible argument mom, I didn't expect it to happen."

Ciera's mom changed the subject, seeing as it was upsetting her.

"So, senior year?" She asks, "You excited?"

"I am," Ciera replies.

"I want you and your brother to make sure you graduate with 4.0's. You've done good so far and I don't want you thinking just because it's the end of the year that you don't have to study."

Ciera and Zeblen were both straight A students. Making sure they didn't get anything lower than a 90%, the twins always did their best to make their parents proud.

Ciera nods, picking at her food they got 10 minutes before. Sighing, Ciera's mother calls for the check, ending their lunch.

Later that day, Ahmad walks through the front door, his mother in the kitchen waiting for him.

"Hey ma," he greets, getting ready to walk past her.

"I got a call from Cameron today," His mom says. Cameron was Ciera's mom. "She tells me you and Ciera got into an argument."

"It's not you guys's business, ma."

"Yes it is. What's going on?"

"Nothing. She just thinks I have to spend every waking moment with her when I don't."

"I don't think talking to her is spending every waking moment with her. Plus that's what you do with that girlfriend of yours," His mom points out.

"That's because that's my girlfriend."

"Go talk to her, Ahmad. She's been really down lately and Cam said she's been eating less. I get it, you don't wanna talk to her all the time, but at least be on talking terms with her. You two grew up together. She deserves at least that."

Ahmad sighed. His mom was right, Ciera didn't deserve to be treated like an outcast when she did nothing wrong.

"Okay, ma. I'll talk to her tomorrow."

His mother smiled,

"Thank you. I hate seeing you two like that."
