That day changed her. (Y/n) (L/n) lived with the memories that she still couldn't conquer even in present day.

Those memories, however, didn't make her scared of the world. (Y/n) was fearless, strong, serious, and all that she was now was going to make a comeback.

That monster she witnessed that day was known as a Titan. It was labeled the Armored Titan for its layer of plated, armor-like of hardened skin that protects its body. Unlike other Titans, which looked like giant and mutated humans, this one was also known to be intelligent, faster, and unstoppable.

All Titans are known to be a serious and elusive threat to the human race. Especially after the fall of Wall Maria, which happened two years ago and on the same day (Y/n)'s life was spared.

At that time, (Y/n) was fifteen. Back then, this young woman was completely different from the way she is known to seem now. A smile was always on her unharmed face. Her eyes glistened the color of (e/c), positivity, and were full of wonder.

Her childhood was also perfect. She had a loving mother and father, friendly siblings and neighbors, and even had a best friend that was also her crush.

(Y/n) had nothing to fear back then, in the year of 845 and below. Although, back then she didn't know the truth about the reality she lived in.

Like a few other families, the (L/n)'s lived a few miles outside the Walls. The Walls are large structures that surround the remaining territories that humanity inhabits. They were built more than a century ago, but the (L/n)'s still preferred not to be treated like caged and trapped animals.

The houses they sheltered in had a warm feeling to them. They were made out of redwood log, stone or grey brick, and topped off with dried hay or wooden roofs. They were old and hardly furnished due to the short supply each family lived off of. Living outside of the Walls was difficult for the grown-ups at least, but not for the children that roamed the open area.

On that day, (Y/n) lived it like any other. After a small portion of the breakfast of fruits, deer, and bread, she went to enjoy the little things she appreciated. She played tag with her three friends in the field of tall grass. She skipped rocks across the village's small pond, with the boy that didn't know she loved him the way he loved her.

Everything was normal and had a happy feeling to it, but then it all changed when the blue sky went grey. At first, it seemed like a small storm was going to strike at the small village. Shortly after, the thunder that echoed across the plains turned out to be the loud slamming of footsteps.

Everyone ran, screamed, and panicked like ants when their mound was destroyed. All the children were forced to go into hiding while most fathers tried to lead the Titan away. Everything they tried didn't work. Blood splattered everywhere, bones were crushed, and homes were turned into rubble.

That wasn't the end of it either. More and more titans that looked rather more human were approaching her from the directions she couldn't face at the time. This was until she blacked out from the loss of blood.

Only one in that village made it out alive, but no one knows how she did it. The truth on how (Y/n) survived that day is only known by her. She didn't stop the rumors of her abandoning everyone she loved for her own life. She didn't confess how that Armored Titan spared her in a gentle way. (Y/n) stayed quiet, and everyone respected that for they felt pity for her being too traumatized to speak.

(Y/n) was only traumatized when watching everything she loved to be taken away. After that, she changed her emotions and perspective on life in a way that couldn't affect her.

(Y/n) wasn't the only one though. Thousands of people within the walls had almost the same experience as her, of not then more tragic.

The Shiganshina District was the first city to fall when Wall Maria was breached. This only led to a horrible sight of slaughter to humanity. Many tried to abandon the entire perimeter and the remaining cities along the Wall.

Wall Maria was destroyed by the same Armored Titan, along with one known as the Colossal. After that, many smaller and more human-looking Titans had a feast of panicking humans.

When this went down, (Y/n) was hospitalized in Wall Maria. Answers were needed and nearly forced out of her, but the higher up got nothing in return.

A decision was then made that same day she woke bandaged and scarred, but by (Y/n). The only words she spoke in raspy tone sent her on the boat that traveled her deeper into Wall Rose. Many men, women, and children compacted that boat. All the faces (Y/n) witnessed had the same expression as hers. Life changed for the worse.

During that time of building self-confidence each time she looked at the scar on her side that went from her left hipbone to the last rib of the rib cage on the side. (Y/n) made four vows to herself.

Those vows and promises might have sounded ridiculous to anyone that didn't go through what she went through. However, they weren't spared like she was.

The first vow was a sworn oath of truth that she was going to be the one to kill the Armored Titan. Vow two, which was the most idiotic one, required her not to like or trust any other blondes, which reminded her of the hair of the Titan that changed her life. The third involved her not to reveal how she survived. Lastly, the fourth vow was a task that required her to always stand her ground for vengeance.
