A man was drawing a transmutation circle on the stony ground of an alleyway. Looming ominously behind him, in the middle of the city lied the military HQ. Where two high ranking military officials were meeting.
"The freezing alchemist? Really? He's here?" A deep voice asked in his office. A picture of the man from the alley was laying upon the desk. Führer Bradley himself stood by a map of central as he explained the situation to Colonel Roy Mustang.
"We have information that he managed to slip into Central a few days ago. That's why I've summoned you here Colonel. I need your men to smoke him out, and bring him in." The Führer stood straight with his old age evident in his face, his eyepatch stood in place over his damaged eye as he spoke to Mustang who was a rather fit military man himself. However, Mustang's hair was messier and more alive with youth.
"Consider it done, sir." Mustang said with respect, he stood the same way by the door as he spoke. Bradley smirked.
"I'm glad you're with us in Central for a while, Mustang. Good to know I have people I can count on."
"Sir." Mustang bowed, Bradley, however, had interrupted him before he could take his leave.
"One last thing. Our rising young star is here as well. I'm placing him at your disposal."
"Forgive me, Führer Bradley but just to be clear, are you referring to-"
"I am. The Fullmetal Alchemist. Edward Elric."
Meanwhile, out in the city, two boys stood atop one of Centrals many buildings.
"Goddammit. The Colonel is never gonna let us out of here, is he?"
"But we already bought our tickets to Liore. Does this mean we're not going?" The young boy in the suit of armor asked his older brother.
"I dunno Al, but let's just get this over with. Ok?" Edward stood up. He was short with long golden hair and a long red coat.
"Lead the way, brother." The large suit of armor told him.
As they were talking, back at the alley, soldiers were blowing their whistles as they found the man who was drawing the transmutation circle.
"There he is! You there! Halt! Halt or I'll shoot!" They pulled their guns on him, but he kept sprinting towards them. He unveiled his arms from underneath his cloak and there was a spiked gauntlet bearing a transmutation circle on both.
He spread his arms out across the alley and the circles glowed, suddenly, a barrage of ice spikes flew up and soldiers flying, only to instantly melt back into water.
The man kept sprinting around the corner, at the end of this passage was another sokdier with a pistol aimed at him. The man ducked and grabbed the soldier by the arm. They immediately became frozen solid at the mans touch. The soldier behind the victim stared in terror as his face was grabbed by the man. As the circles glowed once more the water inside the soldier boiled to the intensity that he died as well.
"Water freezes, water boils. Either way you're just as dead." The man said after slaughtering the two of them.He made a large backstep as a spear flew onto the spot where he once stood from the air.
"That's alchemy..." He said in a confused manner, he noticed this by the construction of the spear.
"What a nasty thing to do." Edward said as he walked over the boiled corpse of his fellow soldier.
"You of all people should know great deeds require great sacrifices." He unleashed a mad grin as he asked his rhetorical question.
"Isn't that the law of equivalent exchange?"
"Save your breath, the laws of alchemy don't justify murder!" Edward clapped his hands together and sparks flew. He grabbed the spear he had previously thrown and as he picked it up it began to transform. It had become a club. Edward spun it around a couple times and pointed it at The Freezing Alchemist.
"No transmutation circle!?" He said in shock.
"Don't be too impressed. Now!" Edward charged at him and The Freezing Alchemist turned around. Standing menacingly behind him was Alphonse Elric. Alphonse swung but the enemy had dropped to the ground and used his gauntlet to block Edward's club. He pushed the club back and then did a flip, knocking Alphonse back with a kick. He used his gauntlet to block Edward's next swing. He grabbed Edward's arm and his transmutation glowed again. Ed flew back and The Freezing Alchemist knocked Al back again and was in shock at what just happened. "No! I had you! Any water there should've boiled!" He yelled at Ed.
Ed frowned.
"If it's any consolation, you did ruin my coat." He lowered his arm as it gleamed in the moonlight. Underneath the shreds of his coat that remained was a fully mechanical arm of pure metal.
"An automail arm..." He stared as Ed tore off his coat, with Al returning to his side. They stared each other intensely in the eyes.
"A young gifted alchemist... One who doesn't use transmutation circles... One who has an auto-mail right arm. I know you. You're the fullmetal alchemist. Edward Elric."
However, he had pointed at Alphonse and they had to clear up the misunderstanding. The Freezing Alchemist's name was Isaac Mcdougall.
"So It's not you?" He asked.
"Oh. Ummm... No. I'm his younger brother, Alphonse." Isaac lowered his jaw in disbelief.
"But he's a runt!"
Ed's face lit up with anger, he hated being called little in any way, shape or form.
"Oh yeah! Can a runt do this!?" He clapped his hands together and slammed them to the ground, creating a group of pillars that slammed Isaac's face into a vice.
"I heard the stories, but I never imagined this! The Fullmetal Alchemist is just a little kid!?"
"Don't call me little!" He slammed his palm into the wall and made a hand out of the bricks, he used to break through his orevious creation and with a great slap, he sent Isaac flying.
"You know, brother, I don't think he was talking about your height just now..." Al said nervously. There was a short pause but of course Ed didn't care.
"Well even if he wasn't, he still pissed me off." In a few moments, the soldiers had arrived to finish the arrest. One of them approached Alphonse with a wide smile.
"So you're the one we've been hearing all the stories about! The Fullmetal Alchemist! Thank you for all your help!"
"Ummm... No problem but... I'm really not the one you should be thanking." Meanwhile, Ed was using his alchemy to repair his coat in the alley.
"There." Ed left the alley and waved at his brother.
"C'mon Al, let's get going. We've got a train to catch.
"Okay!" Al left the soldier and walked towards his brother. The soldiers had handcuffed Isaac and had started escorting him out of the alley. As they were walking, Isaac smirked and dropped his glove off his hand and fell over to the puddles laying on the alley floor. Drawn onto his hand was the same transmutation circle sitting on his gauntlet. When he hit the ground a massive wave of steam flew throughout the alley. Ed shielded his face and grunted.
"What is this? Steam?"
"Brother, he's gone!" Al beckoned Ed to look up and sure enough, Isaac was gone. The steam had left some of the soldiers burned and 2 dead.
"Dammit, now he's really pissed me off!"
