Danny gave Max and Jackson money as a gift before we all made our way back into the kitchen.

I checked the time on my phone, noticing I was due to be somewhere quiet soon.

"Hey , Jackson I have to go." I said, regrettably gaining the attention of everyone in the room

He looked up from his money, "Where are you going?"

"Uh, on a date.." I quietly responded, although it was still heard by everyone

He sprang from his chair, "What? With who? Why didn't you tell me?"

I smiled, "Because I knew you freak out like this, and it's with Popko."

"Popko...as in my best friend Popko?" He asked.

"Second best friend, and, yes, him." I said, "Why? Is that a problem?"

He snorted, "Problem? Me? No. Just be careful."

I smiled and hugged him, "Always."

I waved goodbye to everyone else, although most of them were still focused on Jackson, smirks evident on their faces.

Popko and I decided it would be a good idea to go see a movie, but left half way through and ended up going to get ice cream instead.

I kept thinking back to how Jackson had behaved when I told him where I was going. I dipped my spoon in the ice cream, moving it around with no intent to eat it

"I knew it." Popko said smiling, causing me to look at him

"Knew what?" I asked.

"You have a crush on Jackson." He declared with a somewhat triumpht look

"No, I'm on a date with you. Why would I?" I argued

"Farrah, it's okay. Besides, I've never seen you not eat ice cream when you deliberately choose to get it. Anyway, we both know I'm not much of a long term relationship guy." He confessed

"Okay, I might have a little crush on him, but you can't tell him. He has a crush on Lola anyway." I sighed

"I think you'll grab his attention one day. You guys were practically made for each other." He smiled, "Besides, Ramona's pretty cute."

"You're unbelievable." I giggled

"Friends?" He asked, holding out his hand

"Friends." I agreed, gently shaking the hand he had offered

Popko and I ended our date early when I got a text from Jackson, asking me to meet him and Max at the fire station where their dad used to work.

When I got there, I saw them walking in with Danny.

"Hey guys." I said, running to catch up.

"Hey" Jackson said, "Sorry for taking you from your date."

"It's fine. Ended early anyway." I smiled

"Why?" He asked

"It doesn't matter. We're not here to talk about me." I assured him, gently patting his arm

"Thanks for driving us Grandpa." Jackson said to Danny.

"Well, your mom is stuck at work. It's lucky I'm here." Danny said, "Alright, let's get Max a ride on that fire truck."

"Are you ready for the cute face, Max?" Jackson asked.

"This face was born ready." Max replied, gesturing towards himself
