Her Goodbye [✔]

Explanation

A friend of mine had recently read this story was was slightly confused.

Hopefully I can clear up a few of the common confusions; neither of the girls are dead.

The family had died, and the heaven I have conjured is simply continuing to live a unaffected version of their lives. Due to the girls surviving the events they aren't in heaven, and therefore have to be removed.

The letters are what Maya would have said to her family given the opportunity, fantasied by the letter receiver.

Henry is alive in both worlds simply because the mother could not bear to part with her son, and if she received a letter surely he would have too? (The letter was not burnt for a reason!)

Hopefully this answers all of the questions I've had in the past.
