Okay, does it bother anyone else that Joe and Sugar just sort of disappeared in the middle of season 4? And why did Rory never show up again after season 3 except in Artie's weird "It's A Wonderful Life" dream? THESE ARE SOME OF THE MOST UNDERDEVELOPED CHARACTERS ON THE SHOW. THEY COULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH WITH THEM.

Blaine, Artie, Tina, and Sam were gathered in the library to go over what Artie had found about Barry.

"Okay, so I did a lot of research, and I found out Mr. Schue wasn't kidding when he said Barry doesn't have a single bad mark on his record. He's a top student, never had any behavior problems, he does a bunch of extracurricular activities-"

"Get to the point, Artie, this isn't the Barry Allen Fan Club," Tina rolled her eyes.

Artie looked at her weird, "Okay, uh, eventually I found him in this."

Artie handed over the paper he had printed off to Blaine, who seemed confused, "An obituary?"

"For a woman named Nora Allen," Artie let that sink in. "Barry's mom."

They all shared looks, unsure what to say. Artie kept going, "There's more."

"What do you mean, "there's more'?" Sam asked, confused.

"Blaine, read the part I underlined," Artie said.

"'Mrs. Allen is survived by two sons, Bartholomew Henry Allen, and Nathaniel'," Blaine paused for a moment as his eyes widened. "'Nathaniel Sebastian Allen'."

"That could be a coincidence," Sam suggested. "I mean, our Sebastian's last name is Smythe."

"I thought that at first too," Artie admitted. "Just keep going, Blaine."

"'One sister, Emily Rose and her daughter, Marley Rose of Lima, OH, one brother, Hayden Smythe,'" Blaine cut himself off there and they all started putting the pieces together.

"My guess is, Nathaniel moved in with his uncle after his mom passed, took his last name and started going by Sebastian," Artie said. "I don't know why, but I'm guessing Barry isn't too happy with him about it. They must be pretty out of touch if Barry doesn't even know that Sebastian moved back from Paris last year."

They were silent for a moment as Blaine kept reading the obituary before speaking up, "This doesn't say anything about her husband."

Artie pulled another paper out. "They left him out of the obituary to show respect."

"What do you mean?" Tina asked. "What's respectful about being left out of your wife's obituary?"

Artie said nothing but wordlessly placed the news article on the table for the other three to read.

NORA ALLEN MURDERED BY HUSBAND

"Oh my gosh," Tina picked up the article after getting over her initial shock. "'Henry Allen, a locally beloved doctor, has been charged with the murder of his wife, Nora Allen. Initial reports suggest that their sons, Barry and Nate, witnessed the act and even called 9-1-1.'"

"I can't believe this," Sam cut her off. "That explains why Sebastian's so awful to everyone. The guy watched his dad kill his mom."

"Yup, and get this," Artie continued. "I looked through all the news articles and the public records. Both Barry and Sebastian swore that their dad didn't do it. They claimed a man in a yellow suit broke in and killed her, even though all the evidence pointed at Henry Allen."

"I mean, it's understandable," Blaine reasoned. "They had just lost their mom, and they were trying to keep their dad out of jail."

"They were eleven when it happened. And I'm willing to bet money that that's what Barry kept getting bullied for before he moved," Artie finished.
