The freckled man smiled. "It's all good."

After dancing for a bit, I found myself off the floor and watching Alexander from afar. I wanted to take him far away from this place, when Eliza approached me, a look in her eyes that clearly said 'helpless'.

"This one's mine," she whispered to me, motioning to Alexander.

I felt my heart shatter and my eyes widen a moment, but put on a smile, walking briskly and confidently to Alexander. I grabbed his arm playfully, pulling him with me.

"Where are we going?" he asked.

"I'm about to change your life," I answered, smiling.

He smirked. "Then by all means, lead the way."

I let go of his arm when we approached Eliza, a blush tinting her cheeks. I stepped to the side as he stood in front of her.

"Elizabeth Schuyler," she greeted, smiling brightly.

He looked at me. "Schuyler?"

I grinned. "My sister."

He kissed her hand like he did with me and I faked a smile, watching the love in their eyes. I didn't see his friend watching from afar either.

"I'll leave you to it..!"

I snapped out of my flashbacks, remembering I was at a wedding still. My sister's wedding. To the one I loved.

"To the groom! To the bride!"

"From your sister, who is always by your side!"

"To your union, and the hope that you provide!"

"May you always, be satisfied!"

I felt warm tears slip down my face as I said 'satisfied', but I knew everyone would see it as happy tears, not broken, sad tears.

I stepped off the stage as people cleared the floor, making way for Eliza and Alex. Sighing, I wandered over to the bar, taking a glass of wine before sitting on a stool.

I took a sip of my wine, watching as Eliza draped her arms over Alex's shoulders. I shook my head sadly as someone took the stool next to me.

"Do you not like it either?" (btw John is a bi boy rather than gay just for oneshot purposes XD k carry on)

I turned, a bit startled, to see John smiling sadly.

"You could say that," I replied.

We sat in silence a moment before John looked at me again. "Dance with me?"

I met his hazel eyes. "Really?"

He smiled again, though this time it was a bit more genuine. "I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it. C'mon, (N/N); I can tell you need to lighten up."

I smiled a bit at his words and stood up, setting my glass down. John grabbed my hand gently and I felt a blush creep onto my face.

Wait... I like Alex right?

...right? I do!

We found ourselves among many other pairs and John's arms snuck around my waist, causing me to giggle. He chuckled as I draped my arms over his shoulders. We swayed back and forth to the music and I slowly felt my mood lightening.

I saw Eliza look up at Alex and smile as he tilted his head down, kissing her briefly. They broke apart, my sister giggling. I didn't realize my arms had tensed up until John pulled me closer to him.

"Don't focus on them. Don't focus on the things you don't like tonight. They may be the stars of the event tonight, but I have a brighter star in front of me."

I smiled as my cheeks flared up.

I can't believe it. I like both Alex and John.

But John isn't taken... unlike Alex.

I mentally kicked myself for not realizing anything sooner. After Eliza and Alex had got together, it wasn't long before I had met John, and we clicked instantly. We told each other our problems and tried together to get over Alex, which I realized in my eyes didn't truly happen until this moment.

"Hey John..?" I started as we swayed.

"Yeah?"

"Do you think... do you think they'll be satisfied? I mean knowing Eliza she will... but will he?"

John thought a moment. "I doubt it. He's said it himself countless times. ' I'll never be satisfied.'  I'm afraid even with your angel of a sister he won't be."

I sighed. "You're probably right."

I heard the music start to end and John moved one of his hands, putting it under my chin and lifting it up after I looked down and away.

"Hey, it doesn't matter. He'll realize if he makes a mistake what he did. Eliza has you and Peggy. She'll be just fine."

"Then what about us?" I asked bluntly. I realized what I said and my eyes widened, pulling away from John.

"I-I'm so sorry. I didn't m-mean to ask that so b-bluntly--"

Before I could turn and run, John grabbed both of my hands, pulling me to him.

"J-John?"

I saw a faint smirk cross his face before he leaned down, pressing his lips against mine. I was shocked for a moment but then didn't hesitate in kissing him back. He let go of my hands as his arms snaked around my waist. One of my hands moved, resting on his chest while the other moved to the back of his head, pulling him closer. I tilted my head, deepening the kiss as the world around me seemed to fall away. John held onto me securely as everything seemed to finally feel right.

We broke apart, breathless.

"H-holy sh*t..." I breathed out.

John chuckled airily. "If that wasn't amazing."

I laughed a bit, pulling him off the dance floor. When we got off, John looked at me. "That answer your question, chickadee?"

I felt my cheeks go slightly pink at the nickname as an idea popped into my head.

I giggled, smiling mischievously. "I'm afraid I still don't exactly know. Could you answer it again?"

John grinned. "Gladly."

He pulled me back to him in an instant, crashing his lips on mine. I wrapped my arms around him tightly as the world faded again, leaving just us two. Everything felt so right and I loved it. I knew then I didn't need Alex to be satisfied...

I had someone else of my own.
