Meeting The Group

Emily's POV
I saw Rick looking at me a couple of times in the car and it brought butterflies to my stomach but I just met him and I don't even know if he's married? Whatever, it's nothing.
We came to a stop and I became really nervous to meet everyone and I think Rick noticed because he gave me a reassuring smile.
"Are you ready?" Said Rick
"I think so" I said
Rick chuckled, "Don't worry, trust me"
"Yeah they ain't mean as you think, we could use a smart pretty lady like yourself around here, ya know that?" said Daryl
Oh my god did he just call me pretty?
"Aw thanks Daryl" I said with a smile and he just gave me a smirk from the left side of his lips. I looked over at Rick and he kept staring at Daryl.
"Okay, let's go" said Rick
The farm was huge and it felt like weren't even in an apocalypse. I could feel the warm air going through my hair and I heard birds chirping, a sound that I haven't heard in months. We walked in and I saw an old guy with white hair.
"Hey Hershel, this is Emily. She's a new member of our group. We talked and she's not dangerous." Said Rick
"Well as long as you're not dangerous and you want to help around, welcome to my farm. My name is Hershel." He said
"Thank you, nice to meet you." I said.
"Those two ladies over there are my daughters, Beth and Maggie." He said
They both smiled at me and said hello.
"You can sleep on the couch, I know it's not the best place but it's something." He said.
"Thank you" I said with a smile
So far they seem really nice! I don't even know what I was worried about.
Rick got closer to me and said "Okay it's time to meet the other part of the group."
We walked outside and I saw a lot of people gathering around a fire.
"Everyone, this is our new member, Emily." Said Rick
My name sounded so much better when he said it oh my god.
I saw everyone look at me which made me feel really nervous.
"This is my wife Lori and my son Carl." Said Rick
Oh so he does have a wife and even a son.
"Nice to meet you sweetie" said Lori
"Nice to meet you too" I said with a forced smile.
"This is my friend Shane" said Rick
"Hello pretty lady" Shane said with a wink.
I saw Lori look kind of jealous when he said that which confused me. Is there something going on between them?
"Um hi" I said
"Aha, you're shy? Just how I like them." Said Shane
"Quit it" Rick said with an angry tone that I've never heard before.
"Sorry about that" Rick whispered to me in his deep, raspy voice.
"I-it's okay" I stuttered.
He chuckled and led me to an Asian guy with a blonde girl and an old guy with a hat.
"This is Glenn, Andrea and Dale" said Rick
"It's a pleasure to meet you" they all said with a smile
"The pleasure is mine" I said
and there was a Mexican family but they didn't really participate with the group but they were very nice.
"And lastly, this is Carol and her daughter Sophia"
"Nice to meet you sweetheart, if you need anything just come to me" Carol said
"Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!" I said with a huge smile.
Wow they're all so nice!
"Told you it wouldn't be bad" said Rick as he chuckled
"I guess I was just overthinking" I said with a slight chuckle
He just stared at me with his blue eyes and I think he realized what he was doing because it looked like someone slapped him back into reality
"O-oh well I better get going and so do you, get some rest. See you in the morning" he said
"Yeah I think I will. Hey, thanks for everything, I didn't know there were still nice people in this world until I met you and your group" I said with a smile

He went to his RV and I went inside to my couch.
I grabbed some blankets, lied down and fell asleep within 2 minutes. I was finally getting some sleep for the first time in months.
