Levi walked into the living room, staggering slightly with a half empty bottle of whiskey in his hand. He put the bottle down on the coffee table, and sat on the couch, his face pressed into his palms as he hunched forward. He thought he was over her.
Same bed but it feels just a little bit bigger now
Our song on the radio but it don't sound the same
When our friends talk about you, all it does is just tear me down
'Cause my heart breaks a little when I hear your name
It had been over two years since she left. Two years he had been alone, waking up only to see the empty side of the bed she used to occupy; and when he returned home, he was greeted with silence instead of her beautiful voice. (Y/N)...
It all just sounds like ooh, ooh ooh hoo hoo
Mm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should have bought you flowers
And held your hand
"Shorty~! You're late!" A voice cried out as the door of his apartment burst open. "Erwin sent me up to get you since you're taking such a long time..." Hanji trailed off when she saw the look on Levi's face as he straightened his cravat. His skin was paler than usual, dark circles beneath his hooded eyes, his expression darker than ever before. Grabbing his blazer, which was slung on the arm of the couch, he brushed passed Hanji and walked out of the door, saying quietly, "Let's go."
Should have gave you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance
Now my baby's dancing
But she's dancing with another man
No insults, no name-calling, no cursing. Something that was rare for Levi, even when he was in the happiest of moods."You alright?" The brunette asked, worriedly looking down at him as they entered the elevator.Sparing her a short glance, he sighed. "I'm fine..."
My pride, my ego, my needs, and my selfish ways
Caused a good strong woman like you to walk out my life
"This is about (Y/N) isn't it? You haven't seen her in such a long time after all and-" "Hanji," He cut her off, "please. Just drop it."With a small nod, Hanji remained quiet for her best friend. But she knew he wasn't all right. The pained look in his eye when (Y/N)'s name was mentioned didn't escape her observant eye.
Now I never, never get to clean up the mess I made, oh
And it haunts me every time I close my eyes
"So you're just going to walk out on me?!" He shouted, when he saw her stuff all packed in a suitcase, getting ready to leave the apartment. "I can't do this anymore, Levi..." (Y/N) whispered, tears filling up her eyes, "You're never here for me whenever I need you. You're rarely even home! And those times that you are, you barely even talk to me..." "Tch. I'm working really hard so that we can live comfortably! You know that!" "I know Levi... But what I want isn't money... it's you... I miss all those times we spent together, the movie nights, the cuddling, cleaning together, even our bickering! I want those times back..." Clenching his jaw, he looked at her with his cold grey eyes, "You want all of that back, and yet you're leaving?" "I'm just... I-I think we both need a short break from each other..." "Don't bother." He deadpanned, "if you're going to walk out right now, don't bother coming back." "Levi..." Her voice was strained, a torn expression on her face; her eyes silently pleading for him to understand. "Leave." With one last glance over her shoulder, she left.
It all just sounds like ooh, ooh ooh ooh ooh
Mm, too young, too dumb to realize
That I should have bought you flowers
And held your hand
Her tear-streaked face before she walked away from him still haunted his dreams, and he wished he didn't let his pride take over. He wished he could turn back the clock, and beg for her forgiveness and for her to stay. In his entire life, that was the day he regretted the most.
Should have gave you all my hours
When I had the chance
Take you to every party 'cause all you wanted to do was dance
Levi, now properly dressed in his black suit, walked into the large hotel ballroom in between his best friends. Erwin, who wore a classic tux and Hanji, who for once actually looked neat, with her hair down, dressed in a pretty cocktail dress. They were attending an engagement party of a friend, and as Hanji and Erwin was mingling and socializing, Levi stood at one side, a drink in his hand as he leant on the wall, watching the people around him with a slight sneer on his face. He didn't even want to turn up in the first place, since he absolutely detested socializing, and also because he knew she would be there. But he couldn't refuse, especially not when the happy couple personally gave him his invite, and with Hanji and Erwin pestering him to go along with them. Thus, there he stood, silently observing the other guests around him. That's when he saw her again.
Now my baby's dancing
But she's dancing with another man
His heart ached at how beautiful she looked in a long evening gown, her (Y/H/C) locks framing her face perfectly, her lips curved up in a breathtaking smile, and her (Y/E/C) eyes shining brightly. A loud applause erupted and Levi turned to see the engaged couple making their way to the center of the ballroom as, classical music started to play. People all around started to join in, slow dancing to the music.Levi looked back to (Y/N), only to see her in the arms of another man. To say he was jealous was an understatement. A light blush dyed her cheek, as the man kissed her cheek. Every fiber of his being wanted nothing more than to rip the man's hand off of his girl. But he stopped in his tracks when he remembered something. She didn't belong to him. At least, not anymore.
Although it hurts
I'll be the first to say that I was wrong
He leant back against the wall, rejecting a lady's offer to dance. He didn't want to dance. Not with anyone else but her. As he watched her, he noticed that she was beaming. The last time he actually saw her look so happy was probably a few months before she left. She used to smile all the time. Before things took a drastic turn for the worse. It was her smile that drew him to her. The way her eyes would twinkle as her lips quirked upwards, showing her straight row of pearly white teeth. At that moment, she was showing that man the smile that stole his heart. And that man looked down at her with love evident in his eyes. A look that told Levi that this man would love her unconditionally without fail.
Oh, I know I'm probably much too late
To try and apologize for my mistakes
But I just want you to know
"May I have a dance?" Levi asked, when the first song ended. The look on her face told him that she didn't expect to see him. "Sure," the man gave Levi a polite smile, giving (Y/N) a peck before walking off. She stood there, mouth slightly agape as she stared at him, unsure of how to react. "Well? It takes two to dance." The corner of her lips twitched slightly at his dry humor, and hesitantly circled her arms around his neck as he put his hands gently on her waist, keeping a respectable distance between them.
I hope he buys you flowers
I hope he holds your hand
Give you all his hours
When he has the chance
Take you to every party
'Cause I remember how much you loved to dance
They started swaying in time to the music, when Levi decided to break the silence. "How have you been?" "I'm good, how about you? I heard you got promoted again!" "I've been doing... okay." Levi paused for a moment, looking straight into her eyes, "Listen, (Y/N) ... I'm really sorry about what happened back then. I-" "It doesn't matter anymore Levi," she interrupted with a sad smile. "Do you love him?" He asked suddenly, after a few moments of silence. (Y/N) halted, wanting to step back, but Levi kept a firm hold on her waist, keeping her in place "I--" She so sorely wanted to tell him yes, but she couldn't. Because a part of her heart still belonged to the man before her. No matter how much he hurt her, he would always remain her first love. Her love for him could diminish, but it would never fade away. Levi saw the war within her eyes, and he knew the answer. "Does he make you happy?" This time, she answered without hesitation, "Yes. He treats me so well, and I think... I think he really loves me." That was all Levi needed to know, and he gave her a small genuine smile. It didn't matter that he wasn't the man by her side. All that mattered was that she was happy. "In that case, I wish for the two of you to stay happy together." Letting go of her, he took her hand and placed a lingering kiss on the back of her hand ."He better love you and treat you like a queen, or I swear I'll drown his ass in his own toilet." He added, his face lighting up once again as she laughed melodiously. "Thank you Levi," she murmured, before watching him walk off into the crowd This time, a smile was plastered on his face, and her laughter replayed again and again in his head So long as she was happy, that was enough for him.
