Hey guys! This is the second book I have written, but the first one didn't go as planned so I made a new one. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve in writing I'm always happy to take them. Enjoy! <3

The moon's glow illuminated in the sky as I ran through the dark forest in my wolf form. The wind swept through my light brown fur and I could feel the damp soil under my paws. In wolf form, my eyesight and hearing is intensified and I am slightly bigger and stronger compared to human form.

To the humans I looked like a blur flashing through the forest, but my pack was located far from them so we are never worried about being spotted. I am Layla Grey part of the Moonlight Crescent Pack and we are the second most feared pack in the world. The first is the Silver Bullet Pack and rumors say their Alpha is the most merciless, cruel, and kills for fun. You do not want to cross paths with him.

I slowed to a stop at a small creek that I frequently visited whenever on my runs. It is where I like to do most of my thinking and is hidden so I don't think anyone knows about it.

Today my wolf, Pearl, let me be in control so she is pushed to the back of my mind, but it doesn't mean she isn't aware of anything. Technically Pearl is a subconscious part of my mind that was always with me. Your wolf is only awaken when you shift at 16 years old. The first shift is always the most painful because every bone in your body breaks and reforms into that of a wolf. That was two years ago meaning I am 18 and it is painless.

Not only do we shift into wolves, but we also have destined mates. Every werewolf starts searching for their mate at 18 and unlike any other female I'm not to keen on the idea of someone claiming me like property. Werewolves tend to be very possessive when they find their mate, especially Alphas. It just seems wrong and it's the 21st century times are different.

I smiled in a wolf grin and stretched, padding over to the water and sat. As I looked into the water I saw the moons reflection mesmerized. I could tell that the full moon was coming, everyone knew. On the full moon every pack has their own traditions that were followed. In the Moonlight Crescent Pack, once a year, we have a huge campfire party where all pack members gather and have fun. At the end of the night we go for a run to the highest mountain and when the moon is shone at its fullest we howl. Since we only do it once a year, the other full moons are more laid back and we run as a pack, but there isn't any campfire party.

"Layla! Where are you?!" My dad yelled through the link. Startled, I jumped from my spot by the creek wincing as his loud tone rang through my head. As Beta of the pack he gave off a strong authoritative voice and right now I could tell he was mad.

"Hey Dad," I replied already running back to the pack house in a hurry, "Pearl and I needed a run."

"Well you and I are having a talk as soon as you get back on why you cannot keep skipping training."

He angrily closed the link and blocked it off leaving no room for discussion.

Werewolves can communicate with each other through a link in both human and wolf form. The farther away you are the easier it is to put a mental block on the link. I do that often when I go on runs sometimes unaware that my wall is up. This prevents communication between pack members, but Alphas and Betas have the ability to go through that wall easily.

When the pack house was in view I shifted behind a tree quickly putting my clothes on which I left by a bush when shifting into my wolf.

Your in trouble.

Thanks captain obvious, but it's partly your fault.

Well I never told you to skip training. I said we should go on the run after, but your lazy ass will do anything to get out.
